People’s Choice beef jerky sent me jerky to review. All opinions are my own.
Both sets of my grandparents were farmers. My parents grew up on a “meat and potatoes” diet. As a result, they cooked the same way as adults and I grew up with dinner always including a heavy portion of meat. I was almost an adult myself before I realized that many families ate a lot less meat than I was used to. Since I moved out on my own I have relied less on meat as a food staple for a mix of financial and health reasons. From the time that I was a child, beef jerky has been one of my favorite foods. I once heard it referred to as “the candy of meat” and I love that concept and find it so fitting because I find it so delicious that it does seem like a treat to me. As I have focused on eating a balanced and healthy diet for the past year or so, I’ve fallen even more in love with beef jerky. It’s an excellent source of lean protein. It’s a great filling snack that can help me meet my daily protein goals.
I recently partnered with People’s Choice Jerky, a brand that makes handmade jerky. They hand-slice whole muscle pieces of lean beef into suitable sizes, marinate with seasonings and then lay them onto stainless steel racks to cook and dry.
People’s Choice Beef Jerky is available in individual bags, or you can purchase one of their curated jerky boxes. I was sent the Simple & Savory Jerky Box, the Some Like It Hot Jerky box and a box of hot beef snack sticks.
The Simple & Savory box is ideal for people who like “original” beef jerky flavorings. It includes an original beef snack stick, a bag of Carne Seca Limón jerky, a bag of old-fashioned original jerky and a bag of classic original jerky. I am greatly prefer soft but dry (not greasy/oily or overly moist) jerky and these varieties were all perfect in my opinion. I am not one to care for most lemon flavored things but the carne limon jerky was good. I didn’t have an overwhelming lemon flavoring to it, and was sweet, it just seemed like as lightly different variation of regular jerky.
The Some Like It Hot box included bags of jerky in the following flavors: Old Fashioned Hot And Spicy, Carne Seca Limon Con Chile, Tasting Kitchen Sweet Chili Habanero, Tasting Kitchen Sriracha and Classic Hot and Spicy. It also included 1 hot beef snack stick. I am all about hot/spicy jerky but I don’t care for sweet jerky. I found the chili habanero and Sriracha to be a bit too sweet for my personal preference but Ryan liked them both. I loved all the remaining options so overall it was a big hit for us both.
The hot beef snack sticks that we were sent were really good. They are 100% meat so they are a more natural alternative to other meat snack sticks on the market. They have a similar consistency but they taste better in my opinion. At 170 calories and 6 protein per serving they are a great snack. I found myself grabbing them as I was heading out the door so I would have something on hand to keep hunger away while I was running errands.
Buy it: People’s Choice Beef Jerky can be purchased on their website.
Win it: The “One of Everything” jerky box from People’s Choice. This box has a $66 value and includes one of everything that People’s Choice jerky sells, so you can try the entire product line! That is 11 bags of jerky plus 3 beef snack sticks.

Hi Emily. Good review and a good read. I just started a new jerky company over at http://www.4seasonsjerky.com I would love for you to review my beef jerky recipes. Please email me back and I can ship out some samples. Thank you.
Jerky is so good. It doesn’t stay in the house long even if we purchase Costco sized bags. I think the Sweet Chili Habanero sounds so yummy!
