With the 2016-2017 school year looming, my 11 year old has been hearing me say one of her least favorite words…….MATH! It’s been her least favorite subject for years and she has struggled to learn/memorize her basic math facts, which I know would make things easier as the level of difficulty progresses. We belong to a large local homeschool group and I kept hearing families mentioning a great program and DVD that had helped their children so I decided it was time to check it out.
Sending a big thank you to Trigger Memory for sending us their Times Tales Math Bundle Deluxe for review!
The Times Tales Math Bundle Deluxe offers an automatic free upgrade to priority shipping and contains a variety of their popular and tried and true products including:

- Grocery Cart Math
- Two Plus Two is Not Five
- Times Tales Spiral Bound Mini Flipbook
Retail price of each item in the bundle comes to $90.25 but purchasing this special bundle saves over $20 as it’s priced at just $69.80!
I started the four older kids, ages 4, almost 6, 9, and 11 by watching lesson one on the DVD. Then, since I’m really focusing on building the older two kids’ skills first, I moved right into the Addition and Subtraction Beyond Math Facts Workbook to keep them thinking.
(The Times Tales actually comes with two discs, the “movie DVD” and a second disc that offers printables such as flashcards, written tests, games, and crossroad puzzles! I just hadn’t printed anything out the first time I had them view lesson 1.)
The additional resources available with this bundle offers great tips, tricks and practice to really help kids build their math skills. Our kids especially have been enjoying the worksheets. (Although it’s probably because they’ve only gotten through the easier ones so far!)
During the video, our kids seemed to be paying close attention. They watched the entire first lesson with barely a word spoken except when I was quizzing them on the math facts. However, once the lesson ended and we turned the DVD off to move on to a worksheet, they did say that the movie needed some more “action”. Although, they are willing to continue watching it and work with the Trigger Memory and Times Tales program to help them learn since it’s much better than our previous method!
Final Thoughts: I’m really excited about what we’ve utilized so far with this program and I can’t wait to see the kid’s progress as time goes. I have high hopes that this is just the thing our family needed. Math can be a tough subject and learning facts offers a great base. So if you’re looking for something to help your kiddos in this area, be sure to check out the Times Tales program to see if it would be a good fit for your family.

This looks like a great way to help children with math. It is just hard for some children. I like anything that will help them.

I did not enjoy math in school so I look for ways to help my children to enjoy math. Memorization is the only way to do it-it just depends on how fun it is. It surely is better if the children like it. Times Tales looks as if it would be a fun way to learn.

Math is so necessary in today’s classes and glad my dad invested in the math flash cards and insisted we practice them every weekend. These are much better than just a pack of flash cards and will hold the kids’ interest longer.
I also homeschool my three kids and I’ve seen this video online and wondered about it, thanks for the review and good luck to a new school year and for us moms for keeping our sanity lol
