Our mudroom had become a bit of a stop and drop zone. The kids would come in with school backpacks, lunch bags, coats, papers, shoes (rollerblades,) etc. and just drop it inside the doorway. My husband and I kept our muddy boots, coats, and bags in there as well. In addition to all of that, we stored our dog food and cleaning supplies in there. As you can see in the photos below, that room easily becomes cluttered and messy.
I reached out to Thirty-One Gifts for some help in turning our mudroom mess into an organized family command center. For my review, they sent me two Oh-Snap Pockets in Taupe Perfect Pendants, two Wall Together Pinboards in Taupe Dancing Dot, two Wall Together Pocket Boards in Taupe Dancing Dot, and two Your Way Rectangle Baskets in Water Hyacinth, with two Your Way Rectangle Basket Liner in Playful Pinwheel.
After clearing out all of the clutter, I began working on the mudroom makeover. I had purchased two large reclaimed wood chalkboards at a local craft fair. I bought them to hang over the unattractive electrical panel covers. In addition to hiding the covers, they would provide a nice place to write reminders down. When that was done, I began placing all of my other goodies from Thirty-One Gifts. I decided to hang the two Oh-Snap Pockets below the chalkboards. I wanted these to be right inside the doorway so my husband and I could easily place the mail inside them. Next, I hung the Wall Together Pinboards and Pocket Boards. I hung these over the coat/backpack racks so they would be convenient when my daughters cleaned out their backpacks. They will be perfect for school papers, invitations, field-trip forms, etc. On the other side of these, I hung a family calendar. I try to keep track of everyone’s’ schedule on this calendar. Last, I placed the two Your Way Rectangle Baskets under our bench. These will be nice to store scarves, hats, and gloves in.
I am not quite done with our makeover. I still want to get one or two baskets for under our bench. Something I can store shoes/boots in. I have my eyes on the Thirty-One Gifts Square Storage Bins in Charcoal Links.

Trying to organize so my son whom is disabled can find things better and he will know where to put things now he just throws stuff in shopping bags then forgets either where he put it or to tell me at all I get so upset this would help us get organized. Love your mud room

I don’t have a family to command, lol but love how your area turned out. I do have a chalk board and like yours. Utilizing the wall space is a smart idea and it requires little cleaning, unlike the floor!
