I fell in love with bamboo the first time I touched a shirt made of bamboo, roughly five years ago. Bamboo clothing and apparel is soft, light and stretchy making it extremely comfortable to wear. I recently learned about Cariloha, a retailer that offers bamboo clothing, apparel and accessories. I picked out a few bamboo apparel items for Ryan, and a few household bamboo items for us to share.
Ryan is between shirt sizes. In some brands he can fit a medium, and a large is too big. In others, a medium is too tight. Overall he seems to find more brands where the medium is a good fit so I ordered him three shirts in a size medium from Cariloha.
Two of the shirts were in the same style, but different colors. I chose both the Bamboo Short Sleeve Vertical Stripe Dobby in Navy. This shirt fits Ryan nicely and he really likes the feel of the material. It’s light and breathable, while also being a mid-weight but durable. Ryan loves basic button-up shirts like this because they can go with almost any outfit and can look nice in almost any social setting. We ordered the same style in black as well. Both shirts are 60% organic cotton and 40% varicose bamboo. They offer a great basic style in a really comfortable, luxury material.
I chose the Bamboo Performance Jersey Polo in black/carbon. We ordered this in the same size but this one looks too tight. It’s a very stretchy material so he can get it on and it stretches to be comfortable, but it was clinging. I would recommend ordering one size larger than usual in this shirt. This shirt feels really soft to the touch and has a lot of stretch to it making it extremely comfortable and giving you a full range of motion. It also is moisture-wicking so you can stay comfortable when the temperature rises or when you get a bit more active.
The first item that I got as a joint gift for us was a set of Cariloha Bamboo Resort Bedsheets. These are extraordinarily soft sheets. These are hands down the softest sheets I’ve ever experienced. They breathe really well making them a perfect choice for people who “sleep warm”. They truly feel like luxury. I used to feel like the majority of sheets were the same, but I definitely don’t believe that anymore. Cariloha Bamboo Resort sheets are a new level of soft.
Last but certainly not least, Cariloha Bamboo Bath Towels. I always thought I was a little unique when it came to my towel preferences. I know many people want the thickest, softest towels they can find. I’ve tried towels in that past that were so plush that I found it off-putting. I don’t like how really thick towels can feel more like a blanket, and the fibers can stick to wet skin. I knew I loved bamboo for clothing, but I wasn’t sure if it would be too soft for towels. The Cariloha Bamboo Bath Towels are large, thick and soft but not so much where it feels like drying off with a sticky blanket. I believe the reason they work so nicely for me is they are thick and soft, but the individual fibers are not too long to where they cling to wet skin. They are slightly larger than most of my old towels, with them covering me from armpit to just below my knee. These are my new favorite towels, I would like to replace my entire towel supply with these now.

I’m glad bamboo fabric is becoming more popular. When it first came out, it was so expensive and now there are lots more offerings and affordable prices. I’d like to try Cariloha’s sheets too.

I have been interested in bamboo bedding and clothing ever since I first heard of it, but still haven’t tried it yet! I have heard nothing but good things though, it sounds so amazing and soft! I am dying to get some sheets, but especially a bamboo comforter. 🙂 Cariloha definitely seems like one of the best brands out there, thanks for sharing!

Bamboo fabric has come such a long and wonderful way fro the first scratchy offerings of the 1980s; it is SO luxurious now.
