I was sent Plazmatic X lighters for review. All opinions are my own.
Plazmatic is a brand that offers fluid-free lighters. I was sent two of their Plazmatic X lighters to check out. These lighters look similar to a Zippo style lighter on the outside, but they don’t contain or use any butane or other fluids. There is also no other piece to replace (such as a flint).
Plazmatic X lighters have two visible purple beams, and when you place a flammable object between the beams it will ignite. There is a button on the side of the lighter to stop and start the beams. The lighter is simply electric, and recharges using a USB cord.
I gave one of the Plazmatic X lighters to Ryan, and we’ll give the other to one of his brother’s for Christmas. Both are smokers who have used refillable lighters in the past because they didn’t get lost as easily as disposable lighters. However, it’s always inconvenient when the fluid runs out, or the flint needs replaced, etc. I like how these simply recharge.
Ryan also likes how his Plazmatic X lighter is windproof. Even when the wind is very strong the beams don’t go out. This would be great for people who spend a lot of time outside or work outside, etc. It also makes the lighter more practical to use for lighting paper or other flammable items to begin a bonfire or other outside fire.
In addition to being more convenient and practical due to not having to refill fluid, the lighters are a neat conversation piece. Ryan has yet to use the lighter in front of anyone without getting asked about it. It just looks neat and catches everyone’s eye.
Plazmatic X lighters would make an ideal gift for anyone who regularly uses a lighter. They are a great size to fit right in a stocking.

This is the first I’ve seen a lighter like this. I use my lighter for candles only at home so this would appeal to me. The best thing though is you don’t have to buy any replacement items.
