Games make a great gift for kids and adults of all ages. When our kiddos are bored, games is a favorite go-to and helps pass the time while they have an absolute blast. I love how games offer so many benefits too. They teach kids patience, to take turns, sharing, offer educational aspects, and so much more. One of the brands that I turn to often when I add to our game closet is Blue Orange Games and I’m thrilled to partner with them today for this brand new review and giveaway!
The first game I want to introduce is called Kaboom. As soon as the kids saw this game, they couldn’t wait to get it open. It offers building, shooting, and a race against the clock. While there isn’t an official “game board”, to play, you construct a board type area with the included Mega Tower Tile and 25 smaller Tower Tiles. Each tile features the picture of a building challenge with how many points it is worth.
To play, each player takes turns being a master builder while the rest of the players are saboteurs. The builder takes all the blocks and tries to recreate the images on the tower tiles while the other players launch blocks off their catapults to try to destroy the master builder’s creations.
The challenging part not only comes in as the timer only allots for 30 seconds but the saboteurs only have so many blocks to catapult and once they are gone, the master builder can create without worry!
Overall, super fun game! The kids loved it although it was a bit too challenging for our 4 year old, the 6, 9, and 11 year old had a blast. (It is geared for ages 6 and up and I feel that is very accurate.) The only change I’d love to see made is a timer that dings because everyone is so caught up in shooting and building that it’s hard to keep an eye on the sand!
The second Blue Orange Game we reviewed is called Brix. The goal of this game is to get “4 in a row”. There are several ways to play and adapt based on the ages and levels of the players which is nice. For the younger crowd, it’s easier to just use the colors. As kids and adults get the hang of it, it’s fun to switch over to using the x and o letters.
At first glance, I didn’t quite realize but these blocks are actually stuck in pairs with each block featuring an orange and a blue square. This makes the game a bit more interesting as it definitely adds a twist and a bit of a challenge.
While Kaboom is the current favorite, the kids do really like Brix too. They just really liked getting to catapult the blocks with Kaboom so that was a hard feature to beat!

These games are great choices and good suggestion on adding a timer with some of them. That would add a challenge to some games I hadn’t thought of too.

These games would be fun for family game nights or any time … Great for promoting co-operative play and logical thinking too. Love all aspects of these games.
