Virtual reality is extremely popular right now. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s basically a headset you put on that transports you into a 360 degree other world. So many consoles are starting to make these headsets so you can play games with it. I’ve seen ones where you can become Batman – looking around the room, actually grabbing objects, fighting crime yourself. It looks so fun! Those headsets are pretty expensive and I was looking for another alternative to try out the virtual reality world. That’s why I jumped at the chance to try one out when Homido contacted me and asked to do a review for the gift guide.

Homido’s Virtual Reality Headset V2 is quite different because this headset is meant for smartphones and not video game consoles. It only has 100 degree FOV, but it’s completely adjustable for nearsightedness and farsightedness so you can have the best view possible. It’s a cheap, but fun alternative to the pricey headsets.

• 1 User Manual

How does it work? Well first, you have to download the Homido Center app onto your smartphone. This headset only works with the most recent phones of Android and iPhone, so as long as you have one of those you’re good to go. After installing the Homido Center app, you now have access to all of the best and recommended apps for this particular headset. You can tap the app you’re interested in and then you’ll have to download that app onto your phone. I think it would be better if Homido just had one app that did everything, but you’ll have to download each individual one you want so be sure to have space on your phone!

Below is a screenshot of the app and all of the different “virtual realities” you can choose from. This is just one small section – there are TONS more.

After selecting and downloading the virtual reality, you can go onto the app and insert your phone into the slot at the front of the headset that comes down and closes back up. Put on the headset and be sure to adjust your nearsighted and farsighted settings so you can see clearly. What’s great is that there’s foam on the inside of the headset so your head is resting on something. The headset is actually pretty heavy, so adjusting everything to be comfortable is important.

Now, enjoy the fun! Whether you choose something scary like a haunted maze or something lighthearted like a rollercoaster ride, you are sure to have a great virtual reality experience.

Kyle and I had a lot of fun trying out the different virtual reality worlds. I think Homido did a great job at making something similar to the big VR headsets but at a lower cost. This is also a fun item to bring to parties! It’s funny to see your friend’s and family’s reactions to the different scenarios. Teens will also love this because of the technology. I think they’d spend hours on it if they could.
