My husband and father-in-law are avid Cubs fans. My father-in-law was raised in Chicago. When he moved to Oregon, he continued to cheer for “his Cubs.”

As the Cubs became closer and closer to playing in the World Series, my father-in-law stopped watching the games. He told my husband that he couldn’t handle the excitement of watching them live. My husband would call him to let him know whether the Cubs had won or lost. If they had won, my father in law would watch a recording of the game. It was the same for the last game of the World Series. My husband stayed up late watching the nail biting game. As soon as the Cubs won, my husband called his dad. After hearing that his Cubs had won the World Series, my father-in-law became quite emotional. He was shocked. He said that he really wasn’t sure if it would ever happen in his lifetime. He is so proud of his Cubs.
