As I have mentioned in a previous post my son has needed some extra sensory development to calm his emotions. One of the main signs that my sons teacher and I noticed was the desire to chew and mouth things in the classroom. My son would chew his fingernails to the point of pain and would chew his shirt sleeves until they were tattered and soggy. I knew that my son was dealing with some stress with having made the transition to school and so much more structure than he was used to.

My sons teacher offered a small box of hand fidgets for when he was stressed or upset but when they ended up in his mouth this caused more frustration as we would then need to wash the toys, not to mention germs in general. Therapy Shoppe is a company focusing on providing teachers, therapist and parents with tools for each individual need a child could have in their everyday struggles.

We decided that the personal Focusing Fidget Kit #2 would be best for our son while he was away at school. When variety was needed we would switch out our home fidget kit with the school one to keep the action of self calming enticing.

The package of tiny blue styrofoam balls is actually a type of putty that is absolutely addicting to fidget with! One of the favorites of both my son and daughter within the calm down area. Specially when we are feeling too excited and having a hard time calming down!

I was first introduced to Aaron’s thinking putty by my son’s teacher who used it during their review time to help settle the kids down and was so glad to see it within the Focusing Fidget Kit#2. My daughter especially loves playing with this stuff when she’s frustrated.

This cute little face is so much fun to stress out on and his reaction to the stress of squeezing is instantly calming!

Another favorite of my son’s as he gets a giggle almost every time! Not to mention the fun had with making sound effects! The Focusing Fidget Kit#2 has made such a difference in emotional awareness during my sons time at school. Sometimes we all could benefit from a break when things are too heated and the Therapy Shoppe is there with plenty of things to help facilitate that calm down process!
