Thank you to Ring for providing me with products in exchange for this honest blog review. There is a paid link in this post. All opinions are 100% my own.
Recently we have had a couple home burglaries in our area. One break-in was during the day and the other was in the evening. Both times, the homeowners were not home. As you can imagine, these break-ins have made me feel uneasy. My husband and I decided to take this as a warning and make the necessary changes to make our home more secure.
One of the first products I knew I wanted to get was a Ring Video Doorbell security system. A Ring Video Doorbell allows you to answer your door from anywhere. The Video Doorbell unit has built-in motion sensors that detect activity and trigger a mobile alert. Once activated, the Video Doorbell will stream live audio and video directly to your smartphone. Any time the motion sensor is activated, we can speak directly to the person through our smartphone and Ring unit. The person at the door has no idea if we are in the home or across the state.
Installation of the Ring Video Doorbell is pretty straightforward and easy. Download the Ring app to your Android or iOS device. The app will walk you through the rest of the installation process. All tools needed, have been included with your Ring device. Start to finish, it only took us around 10 minutes to complete. The most difficult part of the installation, for us, was finding the best position for our doorbell…our front doorway has unique angles. In the photos, you may notice that we have our Video Doorbell installed horizontally. This is against the manufacturer’s suggestion. They recommend vertical installation. That really wasn’t an option with our house siding.
I am impressed with the Video Doorbell image and audio; they are much clearer than I had anticipated. Having the Ring Video Doorbell has given me some peace of mind.
Next, I hope to get a Ring Floodlight Cam. The Floodlight Cam is a motion-activated HD security camera with two built-in floodlights, a siren alarm, and two-way talk!

Hello, my name is Laurie. My family and I live near the Oregon coast. When we aren’t at work, in school, or on the volleyball court, we enjoy traveling, cheering for our favorite sports teams, playing outdoors, and checking off items on our bucket list. We are lucky in that both sets of our parents, as well as our siblings and their families, live within an hour of us. We get together often to help one another out, celebrate milestones, and go on adventures together.

This is pretty cool. Doorbells with cameras just seems so fun and futuristic to me!

This is an interesting product! We have a pretty safe neighborhood and my Mom is retired and in our home all day. I would like something like this when we travel though.

this sounds like a very interesting product…. saw something like this on TV recently helps to keep you safe

If I still had a home I would have this in a heartbeat. But living in a senior high rise now that is very secure. But going to forward to my nieces they might need it

Does it work well in the horizontal position. We have to do the same with the Ring Doorbell Pro on a new house because of the stone work.

are you able to rotate the video?
I like this product! I think for people who have a solid door (no window) or even with a window this would be helpful.
I like how you can see who is at the door without even getting up and looking. You would know who was there and would know if you want to answer or not. II like anything tat increases security.
