Thank you to Home Chef for providing product in exchange for review! All opinions belong to me.
Making food at home is what inspired my husband and I’s love for food. It was the place a lot of my first food hurdles were crossed. When I was younger, I had a lot of apprehension about trying new food. With slow steady steps I was able to let my palate grow and develop to new flavors.
Home Chef is perfect for finding new flavors you’ve never had before. Home chef is also great for learning how to use unfamiliar ingredients. I had very little experience in the sauce category previous to using home chef. Having little experience was a bummer for my sauce loving husband as all we ever had were Ketchup and BBQ sauce.
Through Home Chef I’ve learned how to make a white BBQ sauce that my husband loves! The best part of Home Chef is if I’m not in love with a flavor, I didn’t spend the full price on a whole ingredient that wont get used. Using Home Chef this time I chose the smoothie add on of Strawberry Colada which was fruity, and tropical.
I also chose the Al Pastor Pork Tacos, these Tacos had a few different key points for me. The first difference for me was the main meat being pork, I absolutely loved it and felt the tacos had a lighter flavor than traditional beef tacos I had grown up on. The pineapple chunks within the meat only added to the light and zesty flavor. Chipotle mayonnaise was just the right heat and creamy texture to bring the tacos together. What I really loved learning and eating was the self made pickled shallot. I adored all the different zest flavors within these tacos. A high 10 in my husbands list as well.
Up next was the Grilled Sirloin Steak Salad. I have had such a hankering for salad lately and trying every different kind I can get my hands on. The Steak Salad from Home Chef was a great addition to my collection of salad tastes. The cooking was simple and I loved the warmth the grill provided to the greens right before plating. The cheesy garlic bread only added a more cozy feel to the freshness of the salad.
I chose to cook these meals after our kids went to sleep to treat my husband to a couple nice and quiet dinners together. We both loved the dinners, the portions were perfect, not too heavy and just enough food to feel full. I learned a few things from both of these meals and can’t wait to cook and learn more!
I am a stay at home mother of two, who loves to create in every form, from cooking, to henna, to painting or sculpting, creating with my hands is my passion! I love to dance and let loose when the music flows right. Being outside is a special kind of therapy I think humans need more of as well as mindfulness! I love all things new and adventurous and am always looking to experience more of life 🙂

The steak salad looks delicious, and the portion of steak looks really generous!

I’m intrigued- what is in the white barbeque sauce?

I am a stay at home mom so I have the luxury of being able to cook homemade meals foryou family, but a lot of people are just too busy to do this. I have always wondered about the food delivery services. This one sounds great, everything you need to make dinner and no wondering what you are going to make.

This sounds delicious!
The pork dish sounds yummy and I always love a good steak salad. I had to laugh about the kethcup because that’s my son’s favorite “sauce.”
