If you aren’t already following Nutrisystem Leaf you’re missing out. They often share relevant content for the time of year. Recently they shared tips for saving calories at a BBQ or cookout!

They explained how having a lean burger with lots of veggies, and maybe some fruit with it isn’t really too bad for a special occasion. I love that perspective of finding a way to participate in the 4th of July with family but in a more well-rounded way. Any time that you can use more veggies to get full you’re winning in my opinion.

Of course, it’s best to stick to a single burger, but they said if you do go back for seconds that adding a burger to a salad or wrapping a burger in lettuce (forgoing a bun) is a great option.

Nutrisystem offers multiple forms of burgers on the plan, too. We typically microwave Ryan’s, but then fry them in a pan because he likes his meat very well done. We also put the bun in the toaster because after being microwaved it’s typically a bit moist due to the moisture that comes out while being microwaved. We haven’t tried it before, but there’s no reason why you couldn’t microwave the burger to thaw it, and then toss the nutrisystem burger on the grill with other peoples food to get a bit of that charred grill taste you’re after.

Grilling can be a great way to get in veggies, too. Just yesterday we had a veggie pan for the grill delivered. I’ll have to show it in use once we have a chance to try it out.

I love barbequed veggies! I bought my hubby a cool grill basket for grilling veggies. He never once used it. Then I bought a grilling mat. We use it all the time! They’re awesome!!

Indulging need not be the end of the world. If you use common sense. I t is like you mentioned- enjoy a burger at functions, just do it a bit more wisely. There are just going to be times it will be impossible to pass on Aunt Betty’s famous potato salad, or whatever. Life is to be lived,
Ryan is doing so well on this system!

I didn’t know that nutrisystem has burger patties, that’s awesome! I couldn’t agree more, I believe that I can eat whatever I want as long as I don’t overindulge. Thanks for continuing to share Ryans journey with us, it’s so inspirational!

You can easily overdo it at a barbecue. Planning ahead and forgoing the bun can really help. I try to make sure when we grill we do lots of veggies to help me fill up. We loved our grilled carrots!
