I received Pilot Pens Products to facilitate this post. All opinions are my own.
If you look at this pink and white Pilot Ergonomic Dr. Grip Pen, what do you see? Is it just a typical pen? Is it a pretty pen because you like the colors? Or, since it carries the Pilot name, you just know it’s going to be a great writing tool? For many, they look and immediately, their eyes are drawn to the simple pink ribbon on the side. Why? Because either they themselves, or someone they know, has suffered from breast cancer. With the official first day of Fall passed, October brings Breast Cancer Awareness (BCA) Month.
Did you know statistics say that 1 in every 8 women in the US will develop invasive breast cancer at some point over the course of her lifetime? WOW! Given the fact that any person knows more than eight women means that this most likely WILL affect a loved one. In 2017, an estimated 252,710 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed. That’s in addition to the expected 63,410 cases of non-invasive breast cancer diagnoses.
Pilot Pen is offering an array of great pens benefiting this cause and I choose to take on this post for one special reason. While I have not personally suffered from Breast Cancer, my aunt has. Thankfully, she’s a survivor. However, it was really hard watching her go through surgeries, chemo, and more surgeries. Not only the shock of the diagnosis but the side effects of treatment make this disease extremely hard. She got really sick from the chemo, lost her hair, and lost a lot of weight among other things. At the time, she also had young kids at home as well as an in-home business to run. So the cancer really changed life for awhile. Thankfully, she’s doing well and has seemingly recovered amazingly. But I know there are others out there who are still struggling today. And I’m so glad that Pilot has taken the time to remember and honor them.

I’m a city girl turned country by my awesome husband and we have three busy boys and two darling daughters. I love spending time with my family, reading Karen Kingsbury novels, and catching up with friends while our kiddos have play dates. I’m blessed beyond measure and can’t wait to see what God has in store.
