stay healthy avoid illness

I partnered with Quantum Health on this sponsored post. All opinions are my own.

As soon as kids start back to school, it seems like colds and flu start going around. I have a cold right now, in fact! It feels like the odds of getting ill just increase as we get further into the fall or winter. I’ve partnered with Quantum Health to bring you some tips for keeping your family strong all winter long.

tips to avoid sickness this winter

  1. Keep it clean. Frequent handwashing will help prevent bad bacteria from getting into your system. Lather and wash for at least 30 seconds before eating and after going to the bathroom. Be sure to clean under your fingernails, as germs like to hide there. Carrying hand sanitizer for any time when soap and water isn’t available is a great back up plan.
  2. Eat good to feel good. Eating healthy can help boost your immune system. Fresh fruits, veggies and lean meats include essential nutrients to keep you feeling your best. Getting vitamins and minerals in your diet is important too.
  3. Relax and recharge. Stress can get the best of you, so it’s important to rest enough to let your body recharge. Stress can negatively impact your immune system. Aim for at least 7 hours of sleep per night.
  4. Work it. Don’t let the cold weather outside keep you from being active. Getting exercise will strengthen your body and help you to fight off illness.
  5. Routine check-ups can catch problems before they get worse. Don’t delay going to the doctor when you start to feel like something isn’t quite right.
  6. Keep your hands out of your eyes and mouth. If germs are on your hands, they most often make you sick through contact with your eyes or mouth. Try to avoid biting your nails or otherwise putting your hands in your mouth, and try to avoid rubbing your eyes with your hands, too.
  7. Clean contact surfaces frequently. Germs hide on commonly used surfaces like door handles, cabinet handles, phone screens and keyboards. Wash those surfaces frequently.
  8. Cover your cough. If you cough into your hands, wash afterward. Try to use a tissue or your arm instead.
  9. TheraZinc Organic Lozenges can help support your immune system. I like to use immune-support products anytime I will be around a lot of kids, will be traveling, or otherwise around more people than usual.

Very good tips. I also like to make sure I drink plenty of water.
    Thanks for the contest.

Excellent tips. How do I enter the contests?

    • Hi Samantha,
You should see a giveaway entry form. At the top it is black, with a little blue “GT” banner. There is an input box for your email and name. Once you enter those, you’ll be brought to an entry asking you to visit the sponsors site and choose a product. That is the 1 required entry, so you must do that in order to have a chance to win. Once you do that entry, other entry-types will pop up, saying you can do things like follow me or the brand on twitter, subscribe to my emails, tweet about the giveaway, and many others. However, these are all optional, but they do increase your odds of winning.

TheraZinc Organic Lozenges sound awesome! I love that they are organic and not made with any artificial food coloring and flavors. My husband is a germaphobe, so we are always keeping our hands clean. Unfortunately, my 2 year old is a thumb sucker, and touches everything. She often gets a stomach bug.
