Litter-Robot III Open Air

I received product from Litter-Robot to facilitate this review.  All opinions are my own.

We recently rescued a little kitten.  Honestly, this isn’t our first try as we’ve found abandoned kittens around the farm several times over the years.  But they’ve all been so tiny that we had yet to be successful.  This time, the kittens eyes were already open but she was extremely weak and already growing cold when my husband and children found her.  You could tell she wasn’t being fed, so in she came.  The kids immediately fell in love with her and I made a run to town for kitten formula.  By the time I got back, “Rosie” was getting lots of love.  It’s been over a month now, and although she’s grown, she is still quite small.  It’s great to see her thriving though.  However, there’s one problem…….

The Litter Box!

“I love cleaning my pet’s litter box” said no one EVER!  So this Christmas, give a gift that you both will love.  I’ve been googling and oogling the Litter-Robot III Open Air ever since Rosie became a member of our family and I just knew it would be an awesome addition to any house with cats.  Keep reading to find out why!

This automatic litter box has many great features that make it well worth the initial investment.  Since pets are life-long members of the family, everyone may be as comfortable, clean, and easy to take care of as possible, right!?

Litter-Robot III Open Air

Features:

  • Spacious Chamber:  Large enough for big cats and still great for small ones too!
  • Self-Cleaning:  YES!  You heard that right, it self cleans after every single use.
  • Reduces Odor:  The clumps are deposited into a waste drawer below which helps contain odor.
  • Use For Multiple Cats:  Designed to work with one cat or multiple cats.
  • Indication Light:  There’s a handy light that let’s you know when the waste drawer is full and needs emptying.
  • Adjustable Cycle Timer:  We have ours set to run 7 minutes after the cat exits as this gives adequate time for clumping but this is adjustable to 3, 7, or 15 minutes after use.
  • Automatic Night Light:  Offers a soft glow for easy viewing which is especially helpful for senior cats.
  • Sleep Mode:  Activate the sleep mode to delay the cycle for 8 hours.
  • Ramp Accessory Available:  For the smaller cats and kittens, there is also a ramp available for purchase which offers easy access.

Self Cleaning!

Did you read that?  This is a self-cleaning litter box.  Set up is a breeze as the Litter-Robot III Open Air comes fully assembled, with even the bag inside.  And every single time the cat goes, a cycle is enlisted to do the cleaning for you!

Does It Work Well?

In short, YES!  Honestly, we were a bit concerned if our Rosie would be heavy enough to set off the cleaning cycle on our Litter-Robot III Open Air but the times we notice she’s gone and it didn’t sense her, we just manually hit the button to run a cycle.  Easy peasy!  This automatic litter box has kept the litter contained, stays clean, and is super easy to use/operate.  I can’t think of a single thing I’d want to change about it.

Accessory Ramp

Thankfully, we got the ramp to use with our Litter-Robot III Open Air as otherwise, Rosie would struggle to get up into the chamber on her own.  But a bigger kitten or cat would be able to immediately use without the ramp.In several months though, she will be big enough to forego the ramp.  However, even big cats can utilize it and it’s also especially helpful for older senior cats who struggle to get around as easily as they used to.

Final Thoughts

Honestly, I will never have a house cat again without a Litter-Robot.  I can’t believe how easy it makes an unpleasant job.  Plus, I love that litter doesn’t get tracked all over the house or tossed out like our old litter box.  The Litter-Robot III Open Air is truly the “Cat’s Meow”!

I don’t currently own cats, but when I did cleaning the liter box was not my favorite thing and this would have been a great thing to have!

I wish I had this when I had a cat! This looks intimidating at first, but this would be so much easier to clean!

I’ve seen these and wondered how they’d work. It looks really cool and I’d love to have one of these. It’d make life so much easier

Yes litter boxes are a pain! This is a great idea but you have to a large space for it. I know that clean little boxes makes cats happy.

Anyone with a house cat would appreciate this. I know I hate cleaning litter boxes but if they aren’t cleaned the odor can be overwhelming.

Before my cat becomes an astronaut, she will train with this. Very cool!

I have 5 cats. Yes 5 and do socializing of feral kittens. I dream of having 4 of these. I do so much scooping I could have been to China by now! I already knew about Litter Robots promo I enter every single year. I hope they are going to people who have cats and will use them .

It’s magic if it alleviates that cat litter smell.

I’m entering this one for sure! I will be giving it to my sister if I win. She has an animal kingdom in her house LOL… always fostering! Plus has her personal dogs & cats. My mom (bless her heart) lives with them, and LITTERally takes care of all these animals. She shouldn’t even be touching cat litter because of health issues. This would be soooooo great! Thanks for posting! Glad I caught this!!!! <3

    OMG HE’S SO TINY lol

Me and my cat both would be in Heaven if I won this. He would always have a clean litter box. I would not have to worry about odor when guests come to visit. I don’t know how to upload so I can’t send his photo. He is 15 yrs. old and is a short haired orange domestic cat.

I want one of these! With 4 cats I have litter boxes all over the house, they want there own and it is a hassle to clean 4 boxes twice a day. I love the fact that they are self cleaning and that they don’t track litter all over the house. It might take a little time for them to be comfortable going in one but I am sure they would love it once they used it

This looks fantastic. I wonder how my older cat would react to a change.

  • Caitlyn

Wow! This is amazing, the future is here! My best friend has two cats and I’m sure she’d love this thing!

  • hannah

Oh my, SO tiny!! What a gorgeous, adorable kitty!

  • kathy m

I would love to have one these! With special needs cats, they are so picky about their litter box and it would save so much time as I am cleaning the litter box at least twice a day. I hope that it wouldn’t be hard to get them to use it and that the noise it makes wouldn’t scare them. It could cut back the litter boxes that are spread throughout my home into one neat place.

I have a auto litter box and we love it but looking at this, I want to do the affirm payments litter robot offers through their site and buy one of theirs. I can’t remember the name of mine but its like the scoop free but cheaper and better imho. It runs 24/7 so we are always clean and we use a crystal litter in ours. We also tried toilet training but 1 cat did well, 1 cat hated it, and 1 cat died during the middle of training so it threw everyone off. I really want this litter box but $400-500 is a lot. I paid $60 for mine and have to clean it once a month for 2 cats.
