I partnered with MDacne on this sponsored blog post. All opinions are my own.
Coping with acne can be a pretty emotional thing. I started getting breakouts when I was about 9 years old, well before most of my friends first got acne. I’ve never had particularly severe acne, but it’s just been a mild to moderate issue in my life for such a long time now. Once I hit my later teens, up through now, I primarily break out one week per month, so I believe most of my acne is hormone related. Still, it’s pretty typical for me to have a couple of blemishes on my face regardless of what day of the month it is. At 26 years old, it’s really not fun to deal with still.
I would hate to guess how much time I’ve spent in the acne care aisle of various stores, comparing acne treatment solution options. It’s really hard to know what will work best for you. I’ve tried products that my friends have swore by, I’ve tried products in various forms of creams, wipes, spot-treatments, and masks. I’ve used products that didn’t reduce my acne at all, and others that turned my face bright red and raw from being too powerful.
It’s tough to put this photo out there! But, of course, you want to take the photo when you have no makeup on so that blemishes can be detected. See how it was telling me that my left cheek is too dark? I had to tilt more towards the light source before it would snap the photo. That green square is it detecting a blemish. It picked up more once I corrected the lighting.
I’m excited to share MDacne with you guys because it is a new acne treatment solution, with a unique way to get and monitor your care routine. You download the MDacne app in the app store, it’s available for iPad and iPhone right now. You fill out some basic information about yourself and then snap a selfie using their in-app camera. The camera has some features built-in that ensure you take a good photo. It will give you messages like ‘too dark’ or ‘come closer’ to assist you with taking a photo where your entire face is showing in good lighting, up close. It will automatically detect places on your face where acne is. When I took my selfie the camera detected 3 blemishes. It does not recognize discoloring or black-heads, it just picks up on raised places.
By taking my photo and filling out the other information, the app told me that I have mild but persistent acne. It definitely sounded accurate to me! Based on that information, they created a customized acne treatment for me and it arrived about a week later. It includes a face wash that is used both night and day, and then different finishing creams. It comes with a QR code to use in the app. The app even has little videos to help explain the best ways to use your kit!
Perhaps my favorite aspect of the app is how it helps you as you continue your treatment. You can take new selfies to compare how your skin is progressing over time. After four weeks, the app will even chart your progress! There are also tips and advice for how to cope with some potential problems, such as red or irritated skin. This way, if you do have any problems while using your treatment you can find the solutions.
I’m excited to see how this program works for me. I’ve used it a few times but it’s hard to guess how the results are going so far because it has been that time of the month for me, when my acne usually comes out a lot. The products tingle a little bit, but none of them burn or cause discomfort for me. I do wish that the treatment creams would come out of the tube a bit slower somehow. They are very thin in consistency, and a little goes a long way. I really only need about 1/2 of a pea-size each use, but the consistency of the product with the size/shape of the tube, I always accidentally squeeze out more like a dime-size amount, so more than half of what gets squeezed out, gets wasted each time. If you’d like to try it out, use the code 30OFF-BLOG to save 30% off (a $10 value!) on your first month. It is a subscription model so if you just want to try one month, be sure to cancel it once your kit arrives.

This is a pretty awesome app! I love that it gives you such an accurate diagnoses on what product you need to use! I have always had very dry and sensitive skin and have been using the wrong facial cleanser for most of my life. I will definitely check this out, thanks for sharing!

I have never been so disappointed in a company. My daughters ordered from them, on a promotion. We NEVER received the product. In fact, the tracking number shows it was returned to THEIR facility. I canceled the subscriptions immediately, upon learning that. I reach out to your customer service and they were NO HELP. I disputed the charges not only for the promo items we never received, but a membership for product we never received and had been canceled within the required time frame. My bank contacted me and said MDacne said I didn’t cancel. First off, why am I charged for a purchase I NEVER RECEIVED and charged for a membership I canceled, which means I paid for more product I NEVER RECEIVED. Total SCAM!!!
This looks like a great product and I like that there is an app to chart progress. I would be great for teens.
