Thank you to Pure Food for providing me with product in exchange for review purposes. All opinions are my own.
I mentioned in a previous post that my family has made the dietary switch to eating a whole food plant based vegan diet. My husband expressed a huge concern about protein when we first switched. I had read so much I wasn’t much concerned about getting the daily allowance of protein for kids, men and women on this diet. One thing I hadn’t considered was the fact that not only was I working out and trying to gain muscle weight but I am also a nursing mother. I decided that I did need to look into the protein requirements of a nursing mother.
My research showed that a nursing moms protein intake should be around 71 grams per day. Now this isn’t too hard to meet on a plant based diet in theory but when you factor in the lifestyle of chasing around two other little kids and keeping household in order, homeschooling, and everything else us amazing moms do in a day sometimes our nutrient intake slips from top priority. There are days when I realize I forgot to eat lunch when my kids did, or while holding my youngest during his nap I forgot to make sure I got in a nutrient-rich snack. Having Pure Food protein powder gives me so much more peace of mind on those hard and busy days.
Pure Food is a company that set out to make sure that consumers had a protein powder that would actually be benefitting their bodies in every way. Consuming Pure Food Protein powder ensures that you can get a hefty helping of needed protein without also getting a truck load of sugar and other yucky fillers dumped into your body at the same time. Made with 7 clean ingredients you can be sure that you’re fueling your body with 100% natural, clean, organic, real food ingredients with no artificial yucky junk, toxins, preservatives, gluten, soy, corn, dairy, gums, fillers, or flavors. The added benefit of probiotics is so awesome as the blend used in Pure Food is clinically proven to be more effective than most yogurt cultures and aids in protein absorption.
The best part besides it tasting amazing is that Pure Food gives back to the world despite being such a small company. For every bag sold Pure Food donates 5 meals to hungry families and sources their ingredients only from sustainable organic farmers. Who doesn’t love caring for others while caring for yourself?
Pure Food offers two flavors, Vanilla and Raw Cacao. Of course you can choose whichever you tend to prefer more and make your own smoothies but recipes are also provided on the back of the package. Picking up the slack on your protein intake can be as easy as mixing 1-2 scoops in with 4-6 oz of water or plant milk. I tend to enjoy a bit of peanut butter with my cacao and make the meal replacement smoothie recipe on the back of the bag which includes, banana, chia seeds and I use peanut butter instead of almond butter along with some plant milk.
Now is this protein powder going to taste like a chocolate mousse pie from Mc Donalds? No, but that’s sort of the point. Clean healthy and tasty protein that fuels and charges up your body for your regular day or for your workout regiment. I absolutely love the Raw Cacao flavor in any smoothie that I’ve added it to so far. The vanilla would be my second choice and is amazing in things like banana nice cream with a few chopped nuts and dried fruit sprinkled on top. This protein powder isn’t gritty or chalky due to the way the organic pea protein powder is made with fermentation, and low heat water extraction.
I love knowing that Pure Food has my back even if my day and diet has gone from totally structured to incredibly hectic. I’m rest assured that even if I missed a meal or snack that Pure Food can help me get my calories and protein back on track without adding a bunch of weird unpronounceable ingredients into my body and more importantly my breastmilk. I seriously love everything about this company and its products. Use code pure5 for $5 off your first order!

I would recommend this for all breastfeeding babiees. You want only healthy for your baby.

This would be great for new Moms for sure. I think most women in particular could benefit from a higher protein diet. They say protein keeps you feeling full longer and it certainly was beneficial to hubby after cancer surgery in healing. I looks easy to use and pretty good.
