Thank you to True Leaf Market for providing me with products to facilitate my blog review. All opinions are 100% my own.
Last spring, I read an article about how beneficial it was to feed your backyard chickens sprouts. After reading this article, I was inspired to plant a sprout garden in our chickens run so our chickens could have access to fresh nutritional greens. If you missed my post, you may read it here.
I knew VERY LITTLE about sprouts. I did some research and that lead me to a company called True Leaf Market. True Leaf Market offers customers a wide selection of high-quality seeds. They have seeds for flowers, vegetables, grasses, herbs, sprouting, and more. True Leaf Market has products for beginners, like me, all the way to those with years of experience. True Leaf Market seeds are Non-GMO and certified organic. All of their seeds have been tested for diseases such as Salmonella and E. Coli to ensure that you are buying food-safe seeds.
For my review, True Leaf Market sent me a generous assortment of sprouting seeds including- Alfalfa, Radish, Mullet, Clover, Lentil, Mung, Garbanzo, Green Pea, Bean Salad Mix, Protein Powerhouse Mix, Crunchy Lentil Mix, 3 Part Salad Mix & 5 Part Salad Mix.
When my sprouts arrived, I planted the chicken garden and then decided to also grow sprouts indoors for us to enjoy. The sprouts outside did well and the chickens seem to really enjoy them. The sprouts indoors took a little longer. Due to my inexperience, it took me longer to get the seeds to sprout indoors. After trying a few things on my own, it became clear that I needed professional help. I reached out to True Leaf Market. They were happy to help me troubleshoot and gave me a few suggestions. Their suggestions really helped. In two days I had beautiful, nutritious and delicious sprouts! Now, I have grown a couple different batches of sprouts. I add my sprouts to soups and salads. They add a nice texture as well as flavor.
In addition to the sprouting seeds, True Leaf Market also sent me herb seeds– fennel, peppermint, lavender, catnip and oregano. Just like the sprouts, fresh herbs are good for chickens as well as us. I planted herbs in the chicken run and herbs around our yard. They smell so good!
I had a lot of fun with my True Leaf Market seeds and learned a lot!
If you are interested in growing your own sprouts and herbs, I strongly suggest True Leaf Market! You will not be disappointed.

Hello, my name is Laurie. My family and I live near the Oregon coast. When we aren’t at work, in school, or on the volleyball court, we enjoy traveling, cheering for our favorite sports teams, playing outdoors, and checking off items on our bucket list. We are lucky in that both sets of our parents, as well as our siblings and their families, live within an hour of us. We get together often to help one another out, celebrate milestones, and go on adventures together.

I have never heard of sprouting seeds before (but I am new to gardening) but they sound great! I can’t wait to be able to start my own garden someday! Thanks for sharing. 🙂
Glad they were able to help you fix your sprouting problem. Looks like a good company.
