Thank you to Texas Instruments for providing me with products to facilitate my blog review. All opinions are 100% my own.
Last month, I was on my daughters’ school website looking at the school supply lists. I noticed that both girls were getting to the age/grade where they needed calculators that could do more than simple functions. They didn’t need anything really complex but, also needed something with a few more functions than a basic calculator. After much thought, I decided to get them each a graphing calculator. Now you are probably asking yourself- Why? I thought you said they didn’t need anything complex. You’re right but, my thoughts were that if I got them graphing calculators at this age, they would become comfortable using them early on, be more relaxed and open to learning functions as they were taught to them, and get more years of use out of the calculators than if I waited until they were in the higher grades.
I decided on two Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus CE color graphing calculators. This multi-function calculator came with a rechargeable battery and charger as well as a USB Cable. Everything we need so no extra attachments to buy.
The TI-84 Plus CE has the ability to complete pre- and algebra functions as well as statistics, geometry, pre- and calculus, biology, chemistry, physics, and business/finance functions. The slimmer/lighter design makes it more manageable for smaller hands and easier to store/carry…yet the size of the buttons are large enough that the user doesn’t run the risk of pressing more than one at a time.
The high-resolution color screen makes your graphs really pop on the screen and you can have multiple functions working simultaneously.
Not all calculators come with memory but the TI-84 Plus CE does. It has 3 MB of flash memory.
Another “plus” (no pun intended….well, maybe a little), is that the use of this calculator is permitted during SAT/ACT/AP testing.
The TI-84 Plus CE comes with preloaded apps. For a full list of available apps, go to education.ti.com/84CE/apps.
Although the TI-84 Plus CE is more than the girls need at this time, they are having fun using it to complete math problems.

Hello, my name is Laurie. My family and I live near the Oregon coast. When we aren’t at work, in school, or on the volleyball court, we enjoy traveling, cheering for our favorite sports teams, playing outdoors, and checking off items on our bucket list. We are lucky in that both sets of our parents, as well as our siblings and their families, live within an hour of us. We get together often to help one another out, celebrate milestones, and go on adventures together.

I got my first calculator when I went away to college in 1966. These are very complex.

I love Texas Instruments I used them in high school 15 years ago and they are still a great brand. If not the best brand!

It’s been so long since I’ve had to use a calculator like this that I don’t even remember how they work. Scarier my daughter is about 2 years away from needing one of these in high school!
This is a great giveaway. Thank You.
