It’s October and that means you’ll Breast Cancer Awareness Month. You’ll start to see pink items of all kinds and pink ribbons everywhere. Although I’ve never been a big fan of the color pink, in October you’ll find me sporting it more than usual with t-shirts and scrub tops adorned with pink ribbons. I wear pink in memory of my grandmother who lost her battle with breast cancer, as well as my aunt and good friend who are breast cancer survivors.

I appreciate the idea behind Breast Cancer Awareness, but when buying items I want to make sure that my dollars are actually going to a good cause. For the past three years, I have partnered with Carpet One to showcase their Welcome-a-Cure Welcome Mats. Purchasing these mats help fund breast cancer research through the 5-star charity Breast Cancer Research Fund. The mats cost $29.95 and 25% of the proceeds fund BCRF’s research programs.

These Welcome mats each measure 2 feet by 3 feet. They are rubber-backed and made in the USA. They are very high quality – soft underfoot yet durable. I have been using the two I received for past reviews in my home all year round and they have held up wonderfully. These mats are fairly heavy and my favorite feature is that the edges don’t get sucked up when vacuuming.

As you can see from the photos, this year, Carpet One designers have created 20 welcome mats with four themes – Farmhouse, Modern, Classic and Bohemian. These mats are available at participating Carpet One Floor & Home stores. There are more mats than I have pictured. There is sure to be a mat to fit everyone’s unique style.
