This month I had the honor of co-hosting a baby shower for some of my best friends who are expecting their first sweet baby! One of the things I was in charge of was decorations, and I had so much fun running with our woodland whimsy theme!
With the help of a Cricut machine and combining some ideas from Pinterest, I put together these little woodland creature centerpieces, and they were a huge hit. Best of all, they’re made with diapers that the expecting parents can use for baby!
DIY Woodland Creatures Centerpieces
For this project, you’ll need the following:
- Diapers (I bought a pack of size 1 Pampers which came with 32)
- Rubber bands (One per diaper and larger rubber band for each grouping of 6-7)
- Cricut Machine
- Cricut Create a Critter Cartridge
- Burlap Lace Ribbon
- Bamboo Skewers
I started out by rolling all of the diapers individually so the pattern was on the inside. I wrapped each with a rubber band to hold them in place. You’ll cover the yellow strip with the burlap ribbon so don’t worry about that! Then, group about 6-7 diapers in a circular fashion and secure those with another rubber band.
I was able to make five centerpieces with the small bag of 32 diapers I had. If you wanted to make more or make a large diaper cake, you could also do that. I thought the small centerpieces lent themselves to the small animal cutouts. Then I wrapped each bunch of diapers with this adorable burlap and lace ribbon.
I found a single roll at Wal Mart but you could also use the link above. I did use all but about six inches of the roll I purchased, so if you’re doing more you’ll want multiple rolls.
With the help of my mom and her Cricut, we cut these adorable animals out and glued them together. I then taped them to the skewers. You could always print cute animals on cardstock if you wanted as well, we just have a Cricut so we decided to utilize it. All of these critters are from the Create a Critter cartridge. Once the animals were on the skewers, I just stuck them into the diapers and they were done!
Like I said, everyone loved the little animal centerpieces. The whole party came together so well and these cuties were perfect for the food table and the mantle. If you’re planning to throw a woodland whimsy baby shower, I’d love to see if you try them out!
Hi there! I’m Amber, a 34 year old wife and mom of two from central Minnesota. I love to be outside with my family anywhere the weather is warm (which means I spend half the year freezing). We’re a homeschooling family that loves to travel as often as possible! When I have a spare free moment, I love to read, take photos, and scrapbook. I’m interested in anything that makes life more fun; I also love socializing and sharing about my favorite products!

This is such a cute centerpiece idea for a baby shower! And you could pretty much do any theme by changing the pictures. 🙂 Thank you so much for sharing!

They are so cute. I’ve made diaper cakes but never thought of just putting a few together like this. I’ll hope for another grandchild!

These are really adorable. If I hear of someone needing shower ideas I am telling them about this!
This was super clever idea! We have to organize a shower in a couple months and I may steal this concept. Not sure of her theme but the overall concept is so cute!
