I received the Quartz Cuckoo Clock Black Forest House from CukooClocks.com to facilitate this post. As always, all opinions are my own.
As a child, I was always fascinated by cuckoo clocks. Now as an adult, I’m still just as in awe. They are truly a beautiful and timeless piece of functional art! But even more, they are also kid-friendly and fun.
Cuckoo Clocks – A Long Standing Tradition
Many homes have been adorned with a Cuckoo Clock over the years. But I honestly wasn’t even sure if they were still readily available these days. So I’m happy to report that I recently discovered they actually are! CuckooClocks.com has an awesome selection of cuckoo clocks to suit every need.
What Makes Cuckoo Clocks Special?
The cuckoo clock is a pendulum-regulated piece and many strike at the hour by releasing a small toy cuckoo bird that makes an audible sound. They are an elaborate system of gears inside the clock working together to operate the cuckoo function and hands, while the speed is regulated by chains and weights.
The movements in these cuckoo clocks are engineered to last at least 30 years. So this means, if you maintain them right, you will be able to pass them down to your kids or grandkids. I think cuckoo clocks are so special because they can become a family heirloom for the next generation to enjoy!

Both of my Grandma’s had cuckoo clocks, and I loved them. One had the chains hanging down and I was so tempted to pull them, lol. The other had a lady on a swing.
