Thank you to Goliath Games for providing me with products to facilitate my blog review. All opinions are 100% my own.
Our family and extended family are big on games, especially family games that pull all ages and generations together. Over the past year, games have even become more important to us since we find ourselves spending so much time at home or in small family gatherings.
Today I want to share with you a few of the games we have in our game cabinet.
Games for kids ages 4-years-old and older
One of the games that is particularly entertaining for the younger (and young at heart) members of our family is What’s In Ned’s Head Game. What IS in Ned’s Head? Could it be an old sock, maybe a tooth? Each player must draw a card and then reach into Ned’s Head and feel around until they think they’ve found the object on the card. There are even some blank cards so you can come up with your own icky item to add to Ned’s Head. This game is perfect for children at least 4 years of age.
Rattlesnake Jake – Get The Gold Before He Strikes! Does your 4+-year-old game player like to take chances with a game of suspense? This may be the game for you. Can you get the gold nuggets back before Jake’s rattle goes off? Each play leads you closer and closer…but what are you closer to…getting the gold or having the rattler go off?
Games for players 13-years-old and older
Perhaps the players in your family are older. This fast-paced team card game is designed for ages 13 and up. It’s called May Cause Side Effects – The Guessing Game with an Extra Dose of Absurdity. Be part of a clinical trial study but there may be side effects! I mentioned that this is a “team” game. If you act out the side effects, will your partner be able to guess what the side effect is? If he/she does, you get to stay in the game (clinical trial).
The Escape Game: Escape from Iron Gate – The Puzzle Completing, Drawing, Acting and Trading Prison Break Party Game is suitable for players ages 13 and up. This is a board game for up to 8 players (and no fewer than 3) so is perfect for a small gathering of “gamers”. Will you be able to break free after being falsely accused and imprisoned?
Classic Family Games
Our family has enjoyed playing this game at other homes for years so imagine our delight when we found Mexican Train Dominoes in a beautiful color dot double 12 dominoes set. This game can even be played solo if you find yourself having some alone time. Up to 8 people can play if you want to invite others to enjoy this game of strategy. Players as young as 6 (and we have had some even younger than 6) enjoy creating their own train or playing on the public train. Be the first to use all your dominoes!
Chinese Checkers is another game that has brought us years of fun at other people’s homes so we were thrilled to get our own set. This game of strategy keeps 2 to 6 players entertained while they use their own marbles or their competition’s marbles to migrate from one side of the board to the other. Players as young as 6 find this game exciting and challenging. You can even test your abilities by decreasing the number of moves it takes to get your brightly colored marbles to their destination.

Hello, my name is Laurie. My family and I live near the Oregon coast. When we aren’t at work, in school, or on the volleyball court, we enjoy traveling, cheering for our favorite sports teams, playing outdoors, and checking off items on our bucket list. We are lucky in that both sets of our parents, as well as our siblings and their families, live within an hour of us. We get together often to help one another out, celebrate milestones, and go on adventures together.

All of these games sounds fun. I had totally forgot about chinese checkers. I am going to look for that for my great niece who is almost 5. She loves games and she HATES to lost, so you watch her like a hawk. Someone taught her to cheat 🙂
