I received the Joey Bikes Thumper 8 Speed 20″ Bike to help facilitate this review. As always, all opinions are my own.
A great bike is a classic toy/item that I personally feel every child deserves. Back when we were doing foster care a couple years ago, it was crazy how many kiddos didn’t have a bike of their own. We had an awesome sibling set stay with us for a week and they were enthralled with country living and the space it afforded us. No lie – the 6 year old boy spent the entire week riding bike! As soon as he’d get up in the morning, he’d ask if he could go outside and I’d see him biking all over the farm. His sister loved doing this too but wasn’t as early a riser. As a matter of fact, those two children had such a positive impact on our own kids and instilled their love of biking in our family! So this Christmas, if you know a child who doesn’t have their own bike, consider gifting them one from Joey Bikes.
Joey Bikes Thumper 8 Speed 20″ Review
Assembly-
Our Thumper bike was delivered to our front door and my husband took on the task of assembling. Being we’re parents to 5 kiddos, we’ve put together our fair share of bikes already. The Joey Bikes Thumper was fairly easy, just follow the instructions to ensure it’s done correctly. It took less than 30 minutes from unboxing till it was ready to ride.
Thumper 8 Speed 20″ Review
We chose the Joey Bikes Thumper 8 Speed Bike for our 9 year old son. This is a great choice for a first ‘grown up bike’ for your kiddo as it features the 8 speed Shimano Rapidfire trigger shifter. It’s such a great shifter that makes adjusting gears a breeze for kids.
The Front and rear caliper brakes have custom sized levers, geared to be the perfect size for young hands.
Parents appreciate that the Joey Bikes team has designed this bike with safety reflectors on both the front and back of the bike. We all want to make sure our kiddos are safe and this is such an easy way to make sure they are more visible.
Next up is a feature that my kids personally love on a bike….. a bell! When we hit the local trails, they love ringing their bells as they pass us up but a bell is also a great feature to alert others in the area that a biker is coming through.
The Butted Alloy Frame features a low gravity concept design helping kids feel more steady.
The wheels are reinforced alloy wheels with machined braking surface for greater power.
The pedals are designed with grips that help our son’s feet stay on, which makes riding safer.
And finally, the seat is a bit larger than the one on his last bike and he says it’s comfortable. You can adjust it both higher and lower as well as adjust the angle to find the perfect fit for your child.
All in all, the Joey Bikes Thumper 8 Speed 20″ has been a great bike for our kiddo and now we’re looking at their Thumper 8-speed | 24″ for our 11 year old!

I’m a city girl turned country by my awesome husband and we have three busy boys and two darling daughters. I love spending time with my family, reading Karen Kingsbury novels, and catching up with friends while our kiddos have play dates. I’m blessed beyond measure and can’t wait to see what God has in store.

This is a great looking bike. It has a cool look to it but looks sturdy too for riding by a teenager

That’s a well made and sturdy looking bike for all ages of bikers. It would be great on pavement and dirt roads.

That is a good first adult bike. I like the safety features.
