Family traditions are SO important! The best part is they don’t even have to cost a lot of money! Some of our family traditions are:
- Black Friday – Cutting Down Our Own Christmas Tree
- Family Game Days
- Pizza Picnics At Local Parks
- Family Movie Nights (at home)
- Reading The Christmas Story During The Month Of December
- and more!
So while some families have traditions of vacations and trips, make sure you also make the little things that happen every day special too! One of our favorite traditions is celebrating the birth of Jesus. Yes, we do give the kids gifts for Christmas but, more importantly, we spend the month reading one chapter a day from the book of Luke so we can relive the story of Jesus’ life.
This year, we’re also adding The Manger Mission to our traditions!
The Manger Mission: Nativity Activity Set
The Manger Mission is an activity set that is perfect for your entire family to enjoy this Christmas season. If you’ve never heard of it before, it’s a child-led, play-based, and Jesus-focused activity set that really puts the focus of Christmas back on Jesus. He’s the true reason for the season and this set helps bring the anticipation of Jesus’ birth while taking part in the journey of the Wise Men.
The Manger Mission desires to partner with families in an effort to build a foundation of faith through play-based learning and their their high quality gift set.
Giving The Gift Of The Christmas Story Experience Is Easy With The Manger Mission
The Manger Mission allows you to give children the gift of a one-of-a-kind experience this Christmas. This hardback children’s book and coordinating nativity set introduces children to a unique child-led, Jesus-focused Advent activity. Participating in the Wise Men’s journey to Jesus, children experience a taste of longing, expectation, and preparation for Jesus’ arrival—abstract ideas so defining of the Advent season, made concrete through hands-on engagement.
This tradition may start with the beginning of Advent or any time prior to Christmas. The best part is you can make the timeline fit what works best with your family’s schedule.
A Little Background Of The Manger Mission-
Kristin wrote the book The Manger Mission, and Hannah illustrated it and designed the nativity set. Kristin was Hannah’s 11th grade English teacher 13 years ago! The Christmas tradition comes from Hannah’s family when she was a little girl. Their mission is to share a tradition that encourages children to be creative and inspires families to focus on Jesus during the Christmas season.

I’m a city girl turned country by my awesome husband and we have three busy boys and two darling daughters. I love spending time with my family, reading Karen Kingsbury novels, and catching up with friends while our kiddos have play dates. I’m blessed beyond measure and can’t wait to see what God has in store.

Traditions are so important to our family too. This seems like such a sweet experience to have with little ones to learn early on the real meaning of Christmas. I love the little wise men “figurines.” They seem perfect for little hands.

This is so cute! We also keep our focus on Jesus, the reason for the season. This is a fun way to keep kids focused on that too.

What a cute book and wooden manger set! My kids would absolutely love this. We have quite a few Christmas traditions as well. My favorites are driving around looking at Christmas lights while drinking hot cocoa, and opening a gift on Christmas Eve (which is always PJs, slippers, and a movie).

This is so cute and it would make a great tradition for a family or just one child. Something that would be kept and pulled out ever christmas
I love that it’s a hands on engaging experience with the book. I find it really makes things fun and informative for kids when they can touch and engage.
