I was sent jewelry for this Made By Mary review. All opinions are my own.
I’ve appreciated jewelry since I was just a little girl. I remember getting a nice ring for my 7th birthday and being in awe of it. I lost it, unfortunately. I wasn’t old enough yet to be responsible enough with it. Still, my love of jewelry was there already!
I’ve never been into costume jewelry or fashion jewelry. I tend to prefer to own a few nice pieces that I wear daily. Because I like to wear it with everything, I don’t want pieces that need to color coordinate to my outfit, or that draw to much attention to themselves. Simple, pretty, yet somewhat subtle is my style. If this is the type of jewelry that you like, or that someone you’re shopping or likes, Made By Mary is a wonderful website to check out.
Made By Mary makes handmade jewelry that is on the simple side, but really pretty. They make some pieces that are made ready to ship, and others can be customized with initials or names. I didn’t opt for any personalized jewelry this time, but if you’re looking for a personalized jewelry gift, check out the Made By Mary site. It is not too late to order right now, but there is just a day left if you want to order with standard shipping, so move quickly!
Anyway, I went with two ready to ship items.
Made By Mary Live In Hoop Earrings Review
First, I chose their live in hoop earrings. These earrings come in different hoop sizes and they’re designed to be put on and left on rather than taken on and off regularly. I went with the 12mm size which is basically just enough to get over the lobes of your ears. They don’t hang down much at all, which I prefer as I don’t risk hair or anything else getting caught in the earring. I love the look of yellow gold so I went with the gold-filled option, but they also have rose-gold filled or silver if you prefer.
Made By Mary sends their jewelry in these really cute little boxes that sort of look like books! I think this is a really cute way to present the jewelry even if the person just bought it fr themselves. However, I also think it’s nice for gift giving! It makes opening the gift a little bit more of an experience, while avoiding the traditional ‘ring box’ presentation that we tend to associate as being really romantic.
They don’t have a traditional earring backing, so they are a bit delicate to put on and off. You have to twist them a little, and they make a full 360 loop when put on correctly. I appreciate how Made By Mary made a video to help show how to put them on!
Made By Mary Poppy Bracelet Review
The other piece that I was sent was the poppy bracelet. I love how bracelets look, but for years now I’ve barely worn any bracelets. I find cuff bracelets uncomfortable to wear too often because they’re so stiff. I don’t really like bracelets that are on elastic though, as I have a lot of past experience with the elastic breaking down. So, when I saw that Made By Mary has a lot of chain style bracelets that are really minimal in design, yet customizable in length, I was excited. I had a really hard time choosing just one, honestly. I love so may of their bracelets! I ultimately decided on the poppy bracelet.
The poppy bracelet is basically a bunch of tiny gold discs linked together. Well, mine is – it’s available in gold, rose-gold or silver. It comes in lengths from 5.5 to 8″ long and it comes with a .5 inch extender that you can use to lengthen it if you’d like. I have a 6.5 inch wrist so I ordered the 7″ bracelet and it fits well, only sliding down my arm an inch or so. I had Ryan put this bracelet o me the day that it arrived, and I haven’t taken it off once yet. Just like the earrings, this is a great bracelet for just leaving on. I haven’t had issues with it getting caught or tangled in anything. If I lay on that part of my arm I sometimes get slight imprints from the bracelet pressing into my skin a little, but it’s never painful. Because the discs will naturally follow the curve of your arm, at any given time they’ll be at slightly different angles. As a result of that, some of the discs will be catching and reflecting light at any given time, making it a pretty and eye-catching bracelet that is minimal at the same time.
Here’s a collage I put together of some of the other jewelry that Made By Mary sells that caught my eye. They have way more, though! Photo credit foa all images below: MadeByMary.com.
