Sitka Salmon Shares sent me a box for review. All opinions are my own.
Growing up, my family didn’t really eat seafood at all. The same was true for Ryan’s family. It’s basically just a whole category of food that we’ve never given much of a try!
We’ve been focusing on healthier eating the last few months. We knew that salmon is a great healthy food option, so we picked up a pre-seasoned pack of salmon at the grocery store. We liked it! So, we decided we should try exploring more seafood options.
Whether you’re like us and are looking to explore adding more seafood to your diet, or if you’re used to seafood already, Sitka Salmon Shares is a cool company to check out.
Sitka Salmon Shares sells sustainable seafood that is caught year-round by their fishermen and partners. The fish is caught fresh, in healthy Alaska fisheries that are scientifically managed. They fish using low impact gear that reduces bycatch, meaning they catch fewer fish that they didn’t really intend to catch. Plus, what fish they do catch that they didn’t intend do is usually still healthy so it can be flipped back into the water. Most fish you’ll find in grocery stores was caught “factory trawlers” which catch a lot of extra fish unintentionally and it bruises, crushes or otherwise damages the fish so they die. Sitka Salmon Shares does things far more ethically. The fish they caught is frozen and shipped to your door. The seafood is premium and wild-caught.
Sitka Salmon Shares offers a subscription service where you can receive at least 4.5 pounds of seafood. You can op to get the deliveries monthly or every-other-month.
We were sent a Sitka Salmon Shares box to check out that included Wild Alaskan Coho Salmon and Wild Alaskan Halibut.
We haven’t tried the halibut yet (though we’re excited to!) but we did cook up the salmon. We didn’t follow the recipe cards provided this time, but plan to next time. I love that Sitka Salmon Shares sends you two recipes with your box. If you’re new to cooking seafood or looking for new recipes to try, those recipe cards are a really nice add-on.
There’s also a ‘recipes and tips’ section right on the Sitka Salmon Shares website to help you with more ideas.
Right now, Sitka Salmon Shares has special holiday boxes available! These would be a great way to help you host a holiday gathering at your home. Or, you could gift a box (or subscription) to Sitka Salmon Shares as a gift idea to seafood lovers!
Buy it: You can purchase online at SitkaSalmoShares.com.

We live in a landlocked part of the country so we miss fresh seafood! This would be a perfect solution for us.

I am a big fan of salmon and it is so good and easy to make when it is fresh. Like hearing about companies like this that that ethically source their seafoods.

This sounds like a great place to order seafood from! Since we do not live by the ocean, I do not buy it very often as I prefer it fresh. I love that this is fresh and delivered right to your door! My husband would be really excited about this, seafood is his favorite.

Mmm! We love seafood here! The salmon looks delish. I love that they send recipe cards with the deliveries. Cooking fish always intimidates me.
This sounds like such a unique gift. Good salmon and seafood is such a treat but hard to find at the store
