Businesses getting Christmas gifts for their clients has a long history. If you have a business model where you don’t feel the need to establish a personal connection, maybe you can get away with not doing this. If you want to get repeat business and know that every order can net you thousands of dollars, though, you have to make sure to keep your potential repeat customers happy.

Getting them Christmas gifts is certainly one way to do that. However, you may need some ideas if you’re unsure what to get a new or longstanding client. We will go over a few of our top suggestions in the following

A Bottle of Liquor They Like

Finding Christmas gifts for clients that you know they will love makes sense. To do that, getting to know them as a person is the best way to go.

You can make sure to chat with your customers if you know they buy large orders from you. Every piece of information you can glean about their personal lives might help you when Christmas time comes, and you need to get them a gift that shows how much you value them.

For instance, you might find out that your client loves a particular kind of alcohol. Maybe they like vodka, and you get them some Grey Goose. Perhaps they like scotch, and you buy them a nice Glenlivet 12-year-old. Maybe they are into craft beer, so you get them a growler from a local brewery.

If you value this client, you might even get them a whole case of the alcohol they like. Of course, if they don’t drink, you’ll need to go in a different direction.

Steaks

Maybe you learn that your client likes expensive steaks. Perhaps you find that out when you go out to lunch to try and land their account, and they suggest one of the city’s finest steakhouses.

You can pay for lunch as a way to show them you want to keep them as a client, but when Christmas time comes, you should remember that they’re a carnivore. You can get them a nice luxury box with steaks, hot dogs, burgers, and more from Omaha Steaks or Kansas City Steaks. You might also look into lesser-known brands like the Chicago Steak Company or Snake River Farms.

If your client doesn’t like steak, you should know about that as well. If you get them food, maybe you can opt for something else that caters to a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle.

Sports Tickets

It’s hard to beat sports tickets if you want to get a client a memorable Christmas gift that they’re sure to love. You’ll need to learn what kind of sports they like if you want to go this route.

For example, maybe you have a client who’s a big Yankee fan. You could get them a couple of box seats to the Yankees and the Red Sox for the coming season. If you need to show this client how much you value them, perhaps you can even consider getting them some season tickets.

Maybe they like boxing or MMA. You can get them tickets to a big upcoming fight. You can also find out if they like soccer, basketball, football, or something else.

Not everyone enjoys sports, so you might have to get them tickets to some other live event if they’re not much into athletic competitions. You may find out that they appreciate music instead. You can get them tickets to a Beyonce concert or whatever else they like.

You might also get them tickets to the opera, the ballet, a play, or some other kind of legitimate theater. Try to get them to talk about their hobbies if you want to surprise them with tickets to something when Christmas time comes.

A Food Basket

You might also look into one of the companies that makes sampler food baskets. You can usually find one with crackers, cheese, sausages, candies, or cookies. You might get one with peanut brittle, fancy chocolates, or something else.

You can always get fruit baskets if you know your client likes to eat healthier. If they have a particular diet, you can usually find baskets that will cater to it.

This kind of gift is relatively informal and fun. It is something you might get for a client who you value, but not one that you feel merits you spending a ton of money on them. A snack food array is a good mid-range gift that is neither too cheap nor too expensive.

Gift Cards

Gift cards are another way you can show a client how much you value them. If you’re not sure what they like, you might have to get them something more general. Maybe you just started talking to this client, so you don’t know much about their personal life.

A gift card shows you care, but it also allows the client the freedom to get whatever they like from the store in question. For example, maybe you’ll get a client a Starbucks gift card. They can get coffee, and also snack and lunch items. Very few people won’t want a Starbucks card.

You can get them an Amazon gift card or one from Nike or Land’s End. It helps to know a little about the customer’s style. If you go with food, you might get them something like Chipotle or Chick-fil-A. If you can call their office and learn what they like, that should point you in the right direction.

You can also think about many other potential corporate gift options for Christmas, such as personalized items that feature your logo and brand name. Something like a mug or a shirt is always nice, but you should probably get customers you value more something better or more expensive than that.

Regular clients deserve ordinary presents, but the ones you can’t afford to lose require more thought and attention.
