Thanks to Promptly Journals for sending me these amazing journals. As always, all opinions are my own.
Do you feel like you have a hard time communicating with your grandparents? Don’t get me wrong, we visit my grandparents fairly often and we always have a nice visit, but when it comes to learning about their life (especially their early life!) it’s hard to find the right questions to ask to learn about them as much as I’d like to. When I heard about Promptly Journals Autobiography Journals, I knew they could be a way for me to connect with my grandparents on their time, giving them time to think out their answers and share what they wanted to with me.
The Grandparents Bundle from Promptly Journals comes with four of their Autobiography Journals – if you have a full set of grandparents, this is perfect! Each of the journals is beautifully bound and made with high-quality materials. These make for beautiful heirloom gifts that can be passed on for generations. One of my aunts had a similar idea when her parents (my paternal grandparents) were still alive, but she had to come up with so many prompts on her own and then attempt to photocopy them for other family members to get a copy. Promptly Journals takes all the extra work out of the process by providing prompts from early childhood through later life.
When grandparents have a free moment, they can read the prompt and then answer the questions. This allows them to really think about what they remember and want to share, rather than being put on the spot. For example, once I asked my grandparents how they met, and they said “oh our families just knew each other”. I’m sure there’s more to the story than that, and I’m excited to see what they share in these journals.
Unfortunately my husband’s grandpa just passed away, on Father’s Day of all days. I truly wish we had gifted him one of these journals before he was gone because I would have loved to learn more about his life. The older I get, the more I realize how important it is to spend time with people while you can, because no one is promised tomorrow. I will be ordering more of these journals so we can give one to each of our remaining grandparents as well as our parents to give to our children.

Hi there! I’m Amber, a 34 year old wife and mom of two from central Minnesota. I love to be outside with my family anywhere the weather is warm (which means I spend half the year freezing). We’re a homeschooling family that loves to travel as often as possible! When I have a spare free moment, I love to read, take photos, and scrapbook. I’m interested in anything that makes life more fun; I also love socializing and sharing about my favorite products!

I was just talking this morning about how sad it is that when someone dies… all their stories die with them.

I’ve always wanted to write a “bio” about my life and leave a book for my grandchildren. This journal is beautiful.

Journals are underrated and a great gift. Often times some people could really use them but won’t spend the money on them when they see them at a book store. It would be a great stocking stuffer to get for someone especially somewhat that might not know they are a good writer or expressive type of person.
Why a wonderful ideal! You always wish that you knew more about about your grandparents. The world they grew up in, what they did in their lives.
