Did you know that August is National Pet Month?  Furry friends become a HUGE part of a family’s life pretty quickly and most owners refer to them as part of the family because we truly love them that much.  

A Happy Day / A Sad Day

Earlier this year, my husband suggested we get a new puppy.  I was a bit leery but he explained that his dad always said to get a new puppy before your ‘old’ dog dies because then they can teach the little one.  Well, our ‘old’ dog was an amazing 6 1/2 year old black lab/german shepherd cross named Bear.  He was SUCH an amazing dog (once he outgrew that puppy stage where he ate everything including expensive winter coats.) So we set out and found a puppy to join our family.  He’s another ‘big’ dog and we named him Grizzly.  Bear and Grizzly became fast friends and where you’d see one, the other was always right behind. 

Well, I’m glad Grizzly is here because about three weeks ago, our sweet Bear was hit by a car and passed away.  The news was heartbreaking and we all took it really hard as he was the best dog with our kids as well as very protective of them.  Losing a beloved pet is hard.  But that’s also why we try to give them the best life possible during the time we are blessed with them.  And that includes supplying them with healthy treats.
