Our daughter Harper reminds me daily that she’s “almost a tween” and she’s been asking me for more activewear options (especially crop tops!) this year. She’s been in dance and gymnastics since she was about three years old, and she loves to move her body! I recently heard about Lava Tribe, a clothing brand for girls that’s fun, fresh, and functional. We got to try a few pieces and Harper loves ALL of them-she’s excited to show off her favorites, and I’ve got a discount code for you, too!
Lava Tribe Paisley Sports Crop Top + Sport Shorts
The first thing Harper said when she put this set on was “it’s so comfortable!” I think activewear is pretty hit or miss as far as comfort – either there’s too much stretch or not enough and the material can sometimes be scratchy. However, Lava Tribe’s sets are made with high-quality fabrics (no fast fashion here!) and include features like no-rub seams and sweat absorption.
The Knock Out (KO) Crop Top and Knock Out (KO) Shorts are such a vibrant, fun pairing. The top is full coverage and has a super cute criss-cross back design. I like that the bottoms are high-rise and they’re about the length of bike shorts which is perfect for Harper’s age. Because of the quality materials used, the shorts don’t roll up or down-I wish all my clothes had this feature! Our kids shouldn’t have to worry about fixing their clothing, they should just be able to play and move freely, and they can do that with Lava Tribe.
Harper is into anything cat-related, so the Staple Sports Crop and Cherry Leopard Sports Shorts are her favorite Lava Tribe print! This top has a slightly narrower criss-cross back and allows for maximum movement. Harper’s reaching the age where she wants to wear a bra sometimes, and this top is the perfect option for that. The sports are a great length and so flexible, just like my little gymnast! She loves being able to do cartwheels, flips, and dance in her new activewear sets.
Lava Tribe Streamline Active Tank Top
This PBv2 Active Tank is part of Lava Tribe’s Performance Line. It’s made from silky soft, sweat wicking fabric with a racerback that features sheer mesh for optimal breathability. Harper likes to layer it over her crop tops.
Lava Tribe Joie Crop Top + Joie Sports Shorts
The final set that Harper picked out is Lava Tribe’s Joie Crop Top and Joie Sports Shorts. The top has a breathable, mesh-wicking racerback like the Streamline Tank Top. The Joie Crop Top is cami-length for a little extra coverage. I find all of Lava Tribe’s pieces to be true to size. Harper wears a 12 regularly, and this set is a 12. For the Paisley and Cherry Leopard sets I chose size 14 so she could grow into them, but 12 is the best fit for her currently.
The shorts are bike-short length and even have handy little side pockets! They’re made of a polyester/spandex blend and (as you can see!) are made for comfort and maximum stretch. We’re all about body positivity in our house, and I love that Harper feels so confident in these Lava Tribe sets! It was about her age when I started to get self-conscious about my body and start comparing myself to others. I’m hoping that by allowing her to express herself through her clothing, Harper will be continue to be proud of her strong body!
