Throughout the summer, our family and extended family go on several camping trips. This year we have been seeing many campers around us playing Spikeball. That piqued our interest so we did some research. We learned just how much fun this game can be. All you need are four willing participants and about 10 minutes to learn the rules. This game is some serious fun no matter what the participant’s ages and abilities are.

To play Spikeball, you start with four participants (or if you want, you can get a good cardio workout by only having two players). Hit the ball (with your hand) to another player by spiking it into the net. See how long you can keep the rally going. Once you get the hang of it, try teams of two on two and switch to a smaller ball. Don’t fool yourself by thinking this game is just a matter of hitting or spiking a rubber ball into a net. You can get a good cardio workout playing this game!

Spikeball sets come in a variety of skill levels and each set comes with a lightweight carrying bag. There’s the Standard Kit, the Pro Kit, and the Rookie Kit. The difference between the kits is the size of the netting and the size of the balls. The Rookie Kits are designed for beginners and/or younger players (13 and younger). 

The Standard Kit comes with two balls (one slightly larger than the other for those who want to be a bit more competitive), the netting, a rule book, and the carrying bag. 

Spikeball Pro is the official tournament set of the Spikeball Roundnet Association. This kit has a sturdier body design for rough play. The Pro Balls are made with different materials and have added texture to help player performance.

To add even more fun. Spikeball offers two accessories kits- SpikeBrite and Spikebuoy. SpikeBrite allows you to continue playing past sunset. Spkebuoy enables you to take the fun to the water. 

I got a Standard Kit and Spikebuoy for my parents. They have a vacation house on the river. They also have a swimming pool. I thought they would enjoy having these for when all of the grandkids are visiting.

I also got a Pro Kit and SpikeBrite for my two teenage daughters. I can imagine them playing Spikeball with friends on our front lawn during the summer. I am sure we will take it with us camping too.
