If you know someone who likes fishing, treasure-hunting or both, they’re likely to love magnet fishing. Magnet fishing is a hobby that has gotten really popular recently! Yet, I know a lot of people still haven’t heard of it.
Magnet fishing is when you use a really strong magnet on a rope, and toss it into a body of water to see what you can find. If you look up magnet fishing videos online you’ll see people finding everything from beer caps to tools to car parts and more. Sometimes people will throw a magnet into a body of water that looks crystal clear, so it seems like there’s no way there is anything at the bottom – yet they pull something up that was completely buried in the sand.
Even when the treasures found aren’t particularly neat or valuable, it can be interesting to see what was hanging out in the bottom of the river or lake.
I have a couple of fishermen in my family, and some others who like geocaching, rock hunting and thrift store shopping so I think they’d enjoy magnet fishing, too.

The kits with weaker magnets are great for kids or those with less experience, while the stronger magnets are great for adults with some experience. Many other magnet fishing kits fail to include gloves, so I love that this brand includes high quality gloves. It’s common to pull up rusty and/or sharp products when magnet fishing, so having gloves is important for protecting your hands.

That’s interesting! Being from Michigan I guess I forget that not everyone lives near water. In Michigan the farthest you can get from a body of water is 6 miles.
