Targus sent me a portable laptop stand for review. All opinions are my own.
I’m almost two years into my 30’s and I’m starting to feel subtle signs in my body that I’m not as young as I used to be! I’ve been blogging my entire adult life, and I used to be able to work from anywhere in my house without a problem. Now I find that if I use my laptop from the couch for too long, or even from some tables, that I end up with neck pain or back pain.
In an attempt to take better care of my body, given that I do spend a lot of time on my laptop, I got the Targus Portable Laptop Stand with Integrated Dock.
I have a small desk that I’m able to use from my couch. It’s intended for use with a laptop, but my laptop keyboard recently was damaged so I’m using a desktop keyboard with my laptop. I’ve found that it’s really challenging to get the desk to a height that felt appropriate for my eyes to see the screen without my arms being hunched in a too-high position to comfortably use the keyboard. So, I thought using a laptop stand to elevate my laptop a bit would help – and it definitely has!
The side closest to the camera is at the lowest height possible, while the other side is at the highest height possible. There are five heights to choose from.
I like the Targus portable laptop stand for many reasons. Here are a few of its features.
Adjustable height: The stand has 6 adjustable height levels for a comfortable viewing angle.
Ergonomic design: The stand elevates the laptop to eye level, reducing strain on the neck and eyes.
Non-slip surface: The stand has a non-slip surface to keep the laptop in place, reducing the risk of slipping or falling.
Cooling: The stand keeps my laptop from sitting flat against the table which keeps it from overheating.
Compatibility: The stand is compatible with laptops up to 15.6 inches in size.
Durability: The stand is made of high-quality yet lightweight aluminum so it’s built to last while being really lightweight and extremely portable. It folds down to just 2.5” x 10” in size!
Integrated dock: The stand has an integrated dock with two USB-A and USB-C port for connecting peripherals. It also has an ethernet port and a HDMI which can support a single monitor.
I like how this stand is really lightweight and small rather than big and bulky like so many laptop risers or monitor risers can be.
I’ve been using the portable laptop stand and integrated dock for a little over a month now and I’ve really enjoyed it. It holds my laptop really securely. I like how the edges that hold your laptop have a rubberish coating that is textured. This makes the stand really effective at holding onto your laptop. It doesn’t feel like your laptop is just precariously sitting on top of a book or something – it definitely is being held in place. Of course, this is only to some degree, if you completely slammed into it, it might fall over. For regular use though, it feels really nice and secure.
It folds up really small!
My laptop has a lot of USB ports, but I know my boyfriend specifically chose my laptop for me because it had a lot of ports. I know many other laptops don’t have many! I haven’t found myself needing to use the docking ports on the stand much because my laptop has so many, but I can easily understand how the ports could be extremely helpful for people with computers that don’t have enough ports.
I’ve found myself experiencing less neck pain thanks to my laptop being elevated, which was really my primary goal most of all. If you’re looking for a lightweight, sturdy way to raise your laptop I’d definitely recommend the Targus Portable Laptop stand.
Win it: Targus has offered a portable laptop stand + integrated dock. This giveaway is open to the Us and will end 2/18/2023.
