I’ve been homeschooling for over 11 years now.  Over that time, I’ve learned a lot about our kids and children in general.  First off, most kids (and even some adults) don’t function well if they have to sit still.  Many of us are ‘movers’ who get much more accomplished with a little wiggling, shifting, moving, and taking breaks.  In our dual purpose school room/office, we have desks for three of the kids as well as myself.  While we’ve tried the typical office chairs in the past, those just didn’t suit the kids well.  So when I recently had the chance to check out Simplay3‘s new Wobble Stools, I was excited.

What Is A Wobble Stool/Chair?

If you’re new to the idea of a wobble stool, they are very much what their name says!  A wobble chair is an ergonomically designed seat that’s been designed to allow and promote movement while sitting. Often, for obvious reasons, these chairs are created more as a stool type seat. 

Wobble Stools help users to stay engaged and keep a tight core when using.  While it’s true these stools are not designed with back support like a traditional ergonomic computer chair, wobble stools are generally considered a great option to prevent future back problems because of the freedom of movement they allow.

My Final Thoughts

The kids are LOVING these wobble stools!  We actually do a ‘soft start’ to homeschooling in August so the kids have been back at it for a couple weeks already.  In the time that they’ve had these Simplay3 Balance Chairs, I’ve found that they are able to wiggle and do school quite proficiently at the same time!  The combination of functionality and adaptability appears to help them stay on task and avoid typical distractions.  

I also appreciate how sturdy these stools feel.  They are well made and should last a long time.  My kids tend to prefer the round seat over the rectangle so I’d love to see Simplay3 offer the round version in a 20″ measurement in the future.  But if you’re a teacher, homeschool parent, or just a mom looking for a better option; definitely check these out.
