Thank you to The Boardsmith for providing me with products to facilitate my blog review. All opinions are 100% my own.
We prepare most of our meals at home. All four of us enjoy being in the kitchen. With our passion for cooking and baking, I’m always looking for kitchen products that will help us improve.
Today, I have something really special to share with you. I was asked to review a cutting board from The Boardsmith. I could tell by the photos that The Boarsmith offered its customers beautiful handcrafted cutting boards. We could always use more cutting boards so I accepted. Before I tell you about the cutting board I received for my review, let me tell you a little bit about The Boardsmith.
The Boardsmith is a family business where everyone helps out. John and his wife run the business while their three (young) kids help in the shop and ship orders. John has had many years of experience in woodworking. He prides himself on using traditional methods along with top-quality hardwoods to build his butter blocks. John uses high-grade (FAS) hardwoods, sourced from sawmills that use sustainable forestry practices (FSC). For his butcher block, he uses Hard Maple, Black Cherry, and Black Walnut. John handmakes every piece. By doing so, he can pay close attention to detail. He also can customize pieces. If you are looking for something special, send him a message.
Now to my “cutting board”. I use quotes because calling this a cutting board feels wrong. It is more like a piece of art. I received a Walnut End Grain Cutting Board, 12″ x 18″ x 2″ in size, with Removable Feet.
The first thing I noticed was how beautiful the cutting board was. The rich colors, the grain in the wood, and the beveled edges are absolutely stunning. Then, I noticed how heavy the board was. As I examined the board, the craftsmanship stood out. John seamlessly blended the pieces of wood into one harmonious surface. It really is a work of art! You can tell this cutting board is made to last. This could easily be something handed down in generations.
To care for the cutting board, The Boardsmith says to hand-wash it with hot, soapy water and be sure to always dry thoroughly. The website also suggests you apply their Board Butter to the cutting surface periodically to help maintain water repellency.
I am in love with my cutting board from The Boardsmith! I wish I could invite you over to my home to see it because my photos don’t do it justice.

Hello, my name is Laurie. My family and I live near the Oregon coast. When we aren’t at work, in school, or on the volleyball court, we enjoy traveling, cheering for our favorite sports teams, playing outdoors, and checking off items on our bucket list. We are lucky in that both sets of our parents, as well as our siblings and their families, live within an hour of us. We get together often to help one another out, celebrate milestones, and go on adventures together.

This is one of the nicest cutting boards I have seen. It looks like it would be durable enough to last many years.

This is indeed lovely to look at and its so well made. Great gift idea.
this is a beautiful board and they look like they have a lot of nice stuff. My nieces have been trying to figure out what to get their mother for Christmas. Their mother is a very good cook and this board would be perfect for her.
