Pipersong sent me their meditation chair PRO for review. All opinions are my own.
I have ADHD and a genetic tissue disorder called ehlers danlos syndrome which causes widespread hypermobility. Due to these, I have a hard time sitting in the traditional position in an office chair for very long. I find myself feeling far more comfortable sitting on one or both feet, putting one or both knees up (aka a squatting position), or sitting crisis cross applesauce.
My legs are pretty short, so I’m able to sit crisscross in most chairs, but the other positions can be challenging. The Pipersong Meditation Chair PRO is designed to allow you to see in all of these positions and more.
I found the Pipersong Meditation Chair easy to assemble. I didn’t time myself, but I’d guess I had it completed in under 15 minutes. I found the instructions clear and easy to follow. I have carpet under my desk, and I find it pretty easy to roll around in this chair despite it being on carpet and having a lot more wheels than your typical office chair.
It’s a really unique chair in its design. I had never seen an office chair that had a footstool attached like this one has. This footstool enables you to put one or both feet up in a squat position, to cross your legs, or to kneel. There are no armrests to get in your way while sitting in any of these positions. The footstool swivels 360 degrees, which means you can “sit backwards” in the chair by leaning onto the backrest with the front of your body, and still have the footstool in front of you so you can use it to squat, kneel or support your crossed legs.
In my old office chair, I primarily sat with one knee up or with my legs in crisscross applesauce position. I expected to do the same with this chair. I find myself sitting in tons of different positions throughout the day (Hello, ADHD!) but I think I spend the most time with both knees up, which was a bit of a surprise to me. There’s something so comfortable about that kneeling position.
The seat of the chair is height adjustable, and that really alters how the chair feels. If I have both feet on the footstool while the chair is at the lowest position, my knees are quite high up into my chest. If I raise the chair all the way up, then the same position feels more like sitting in a standard sitting position, but with foot support – which is nice, because I can’t always reach the ground and get foot support in other office chairs.
My old office chair had multiple levers and adjustments. This one has just two. One on the chair to raise or lower the height. The other is a knob on the backrest of the chair which raises or lowers the height of the backrest. I do have one small critique about this chair, and it is with the adjustment on the backrest. I find that even when I tighten this knob as tight as I can, to where it should be locked into position, the backrest will occasionally still slide down if I lean on the backrest too hard from the right angle. I think it’s mostly if I lean on the backrest hard from an upward/above position, it will force the backrest down no matter how tight I have tried to adjust it.
The main seat cushion is over 4 inches thick, and it feels nice and supportive. The footrest has 2 inches of padding so it’s comfortable when supporting your feet and legs. The chair can hold up to 250 lbs in total. There is a warning label on the footstool that you should not stand up on it or sit on it.
The vase of the chair is made out of solid steel so it is quite heavy but that makes it very durable.
My computer desk is on the smaller side, just 40 inches across, and the ‘legs’ of the desk are just 29 inches apart. The chair looks a bit big at first, especially the footrest because most of us aren’t used to seeing a footrest at all, so that part really seems big visually. However, it is just 28.3 inches wide so it fits under my desk just fine.
I’ve been using my Pipersong Meditation PRO chair for a couple of weeks now and I really love it. I was sent the ivory version and it does warn you not to wear blue jeans or other dark-dyed clothing items as it can stain the ivory version of this chair. I almost never wear jeans at home, but I wear dark leggings a lot and I do see some discoloration already. Yes, that is basically me confessing that I put jeans on before taking photos for reviews! Haha. Anyway, based on this, I’d advise getting a different color of this chair. I really love it though. I can’t see myself going back to a traditional office chair. It’s so freeing to be able to sit in all the “weird” ways that I like to sit, and to be able to change positions as often as I want. I feel like it’s easier for me to stay focused on working when I’m able to keep my body comfortable.
The Pipersong meditation chair PRO would make an incredible gift for anyone who likes to sit in non-traditional ways. I know this chair is popular with people with ADHD in particular, as we often like to change positions frequently.
Buy it: You can purchase the Pipersong chair on the Pipersong website or on Amazon.

I work from home in a customer service position so that means I’m attached to my phone for 8 hours a day. It gives me very little leeway for getting into a comfortable position which also means backaches at the end of ecery day. I use a standard office chair but this looks like it would be so much more comfortable.

WOW in my younger day I was able to sit in all those different positions. Today I find sitting in a standard years gives me problems. This chair would let me sit in different positions

I really like all the positions this offers. I have 2 different types of arthritis and I can’t stay in position for too long, or my joints start telling me to switch position. Better than a standing desk! This looks so versatile. Have to check it out. Thanks for the head’s-up!
This chair is really cool, and would suit me to a tee being short as well.
