Yoto Player Review + Giveaway
My kids love reading as well as getting read to. Over the years, I’ve found the best way to encourage a love of reading, is to start young. However, being a busy mom to six now; I don’t always have the time I’d like to dedicate to reading aloud to the kids. That’s where I’ve found our Yoto Player best helps fill the gap! On top of that, the kids love to sit for hours listening to this awesome device! If you’ve never heard of the Yoto Player before, make today the day you dedicate to learning what it’s all about.
What Is The Yoto Player?
The Yoto Player is available in a couple different styles and each one opens up kids’ creative play to a whole new world of potential by way of audio interaction! The Yoto Player is a smart speaker for kids that inspires creative, independent play. From stories to music, sleep radio to daily podcasts… even meditations or recordings of your own voice reading a favorite bedtime story or silly song; it’s so universal! Kids can listen to a large variety of content on their Yoto Player by way of audio cards. I received the Yoto Player (3rd Generation) so I’ll be focussing my review on that particular style but there’s also a Yoto Mini available.
What Ages Is The Yoto Player Suitable For?
Geared for kids ages 3 and up, take note that Yoto does stock titles suitable from infant all the way up to ages 12 and up. For newborns and babies, there’s Yoto Player’s nightlight and bedtime content while the library of options for 3 and up is much more expanded. NOTE: Children under 3 require adult supervision.
Features Of The Yoto Player (3rd Generation)
- Enjoy up to 24 hours of play per charge.
- Comes with a free, make your own card.
- Features a room thermometer.
- Offers acoustically-engineered stereo sound.
- Multi-purpose with an Ok-To-Wake night light and clock built in!
- Bluetooth enabled.
- Offers USB-C & wireless charging capabilities.
- Provides free in-player content for endless listening.
The Yoto Player is the best option for listening at home while the Yoto Mini is perfect for on-the-go enjoyment.
Our Yoto Player Review
First off, I need to say that I think the Yoto Player is extremely awesome! Our four youngest kids all love it. To set up, I just downloaded the app and followed along with the instructions and prompts. It was super quick and easy. Within just a minute or two, we were ready to go.
Yoto Jacket: Because I knew one of the main Yoto Player users would be our two year old, I was super excited about the new, limited edition Yoto Jacket. This silicone carry-coat fits snugly over our Yoto Player and, most importantly, protects it from small bumps! Plus, the carry handle makes it easier to carry from place to place.
Cards: I’m quite impressed with the overall quantity of content options available in Yoto’s Card library as well. We picked out a variety of content cards to use with our Yoto and are definitely loving each and every one. My 9, 11, and 13 year olds love the chapter book stories while our toddler especially enjoys the Laurie Berkner Band music and short stories.
Another thing to note is the the cards are easy to put in and pull out. (So easy that my 2 year old can do it!). And what I really appreciate is that the cards read whether they’re in backwards, forwards, or even upside down!
Screen: A really neat feature on the Yoto Player is that the picture changes with the content of each card, chapter, and song that’s playing! This interactive feature makes it extra fun to see visuals while listening along.
Volume Control: The volume is controlled by twisting the orange knob on the top of the Yoto box. The screen even shows a visual sound bar that utilizes color to signal how loud or quiet the volume is set. Green means safe and good and the loudest setting shows red, which is a universal visual reminder to be cautious or stop.
Final Thoughts
My kids just can’t get enough of this toy. Not only does our toddler love it so much that she takes it to the table with her for some snacks and meals, my big kids are sneaking off with it every chance they can get too.
If you’re looking for an awesome gift for a kiddo in your life, be sure to consider the Yoto Player. The longevity alone is a huge selling point to me as I know my kids will be enjoying it for years to come! But the lightweight design and ease of use also means this is a gift that parents and kids will appreciate and love.
