Soppycid Reusable Water Balloons Review + Giveaway
Summer is just around the corner and I’m all about finding ways to have fun at home! As a mom of six, and also foster mom of one currently, I especially appreciate affordable and free ways we can utilize our backyard. When it comes to success, planning plays a big part. So check out my list of fun, affordable, and even free ways to make this summer the best one yet!
Free Activities For Your Backyard
When I say backyard, I know that not everyone lives out in the country and has space of their own. So we’re using the term loosely! Consider your neighborhood to be your ‘backyard’.
- Flower Picking: When my oldest kids were younger, their faces would shine with joy when they’d bring me a dandelion bouquet. They LOVED picking these ‘flowers’ and presenting them to me. I’d gladly place them in a vase on my table for the day and we’d repeat throughout the summer.
- Play Ball: Grab a football, soccer ball, or kickball and play with your kids. Our children have always relished in the time we’ve spent playing ball together. A simple game of toss is something kids will talk about for days. They LOVE to have your undivided attention.
- Nature Scavenger Hunt: Google and print a scavenger hunt for an adventure that is different every time! Check out this free printable toddler scavenger hunt for the younger kids or this free printable outdoor scavenger hunt for the school-aged kids.
- Create A Nature Collage: When taking the kids for a walk, give them each a small bag to collect signs of nature. Then give them glue and paper to secure their treasures and create a beautiful nature collage.
Low Cost Activities For Your Backyard
- Make Pet Rocks: The rocks are free but you’ll have to swing by the store for some inexpensive acrylic paints for this one. But go on a rock hunt and then spend some time painting those rocks with fun designs or animal features. (Do it outside to keep the mess out of the house!) Then gift them to family and friends or leave around the neighborhood as surprises for others to find.
- Draw Chalk Art: Every summer, I restock our box of sidewalk chalk and it brings hours and hours of fun. We do family challenges, random draw, and play ‘judge’. (That’s where one person is a judge and calls one letter of the alphabet. Then they turn around so they can’t watch. All the others get busy drawing a picture that has to include the letter. Once done, the judge comes over and chooses a drawing and the winner becomes the new judge.)
- Create A Homemade Bubble Station: My kids could blow bubbles for hours. (Especially when there’s a slight breeze and we break out the giant rope bubble wands!) Make your own bubble solution with our tried and true recipe:
INGREDIENTS
- 5 Gallon Pail
- 3 Gallons Warm Water
- 3 Cups Blue Dawn Dish Sop
- 1 Tablespoon J-Lube
- 3 Tablespoons Baking Powder
INSTRUCTIONS
-
In your 5 gallon bucket, add the blue Dawn dish soap.
-
Next add the J-Lube and mix well to combine.
-
Then add your warm tap water, one gallon at a time. Be sure to stir well after each gallon.
-
Finally add the baking powder, stirring well to incorporate.
-
Let your mix sit overnight and be sure to stir well again before using.
- Water Balloon Fight!: This one is self explanatory. On a hot summer day, there’s nothing better than a good old-fashioned water fight with balloons, squirters, and sponges. (Be sure to scroll to the bottom of this page for a discount code!)

- Quick and easy refill in 1 second.
- They feature a magnetic, self-sealing design.

Final Thoughts On Soppycid Reusable Water Balloons:
While an investment up front, these are a lifesaver on the fingers! Tying old-fashioned water balloons was so hard and something that fell on me when the kids couldn’t manage it. Now, we just fill a bucket or kiddie pool with water, drop these reusable balloons in, and they self fill and seal! Seriously ingenious! Plus, they are just as much fun as disposables but WAY less mess for yard clean up. It’s truly a win-win all around.

I’m a city girl turned country by my awesome husband and we have three busy boys and two darling daughters. I love spending time with my family, reading Karen Kingsbury novels, and catching up with friends while our kiddos have play dates. I’m blessed beyond measure and can’t wait to see what God has in store.
