Summer is coming! When we asked our kids what they’d like to do when it gets warmer, they both vehemently agreed that we need to do more camping. We’re old-school and we like to go tent-camping, so we’ve had to add some new gear to our camping supplies to make other parts of camping life a little easier. This year, I turned to Engel for a new cooler and I absolutely LOVE it.

We usually camp for three to four days to make all of the packing worth it, which means we also have to bring quite a bit of food. While we generally stick to simple camping meals like burgers, hot dogs, bacon, eggs, and beans, we still need a cooler or two to keep all of our cold stuff a good temperature for the trip. I decided to go with the Engel 65 High Performance Hard Cooler + Ice Box for a few reasons, but in particular because it can keep ice frozen for up to ten days! That’s seriously impressive and I can’t wait to put it to the test this summer.

This cooler holds 58 quarts which equates to about 70 aluminum cans if you’re bringing it out on a boat or to a 4th of July get together. It has ergonomic handles that make it easy to carry and a fairly slim design which helps us pack it into the back of our van with all of our other camping supplies. Not only can you use it as a cooler, it also makes a great, sturdy seat! 

This Engel Cooler has 2 inch thick polyurethane insulation and an airtight silicone seal, unlike other brands that use rubber which can warp over time. It’s built with high-grade rotationally-molded plastic, constructed to outlast and outperform in extreme conditions. When we camp, we tend to stick to fairly populated campgrounds. Remote camping is just not my jam, but there is the possibility we could come across creatures anywhere, so I appreciate that this cooler is certified bear-resistant. We haven’t (yet) come across a bear while camping but we have had raccoons try to get into our belongings, so I feel good knowing that nothing is breaking into our food! 

We love the ergonomic handles and the locking mechanisms on the front! The locks even work as beer bottle openers. We always host a get together for our town celebration, and this cooler will come in handy for drinks and ice! Plus, isn’t the color amazing?! I absolutely love it! If Seafoam isn’t your favorite color, there are many other options to choose from.
