Elegoo sent me their Mars 5 Ultra 3D printer for my holiday gift guide. There are affiliate links in this post. All opinions are my own.
3D printing has become increasingly popular, but for many people, it still seems like something out of a sci-fi movie! The truth is, 3D printing has become much more accessible and user-friendly in recent years. If you have someone in your life who loves creating things, whether they’re into miniature gaming, model making, jewelry design, or just love trying new creative technologies, a 3D printer could be an amazing gift.
The Elegoo Mars 5 Ultra is particularly exciting because it solves one of the biggest headaches that comes with 3D printing – leveling! Many entry-level 3D printers require manual leveling, which can be frustrating and time-consuming. The Mars 5 Ultra features one-click automatic leveling, making it much more approachable for beginners. As someone who has covered other Elegoo printers before, I can say this brand really knows what they’re doing when it comes to making user-friendly 3D printers.
This printer is packed with smart features that make 3D printing less intimidating. It has an AI camera that monitors your prints in real-time and can alert you if something goes wrong. You can even create cool time-lapse videos of your prints! The printer will also let you know if you’re running low on resin or if there are other issues that need attention, so you don’t waste materials or time on failed prints.
The print quality is impressive – it uses a 9K resolution screen which means incredibly detailed prints. Whether someone wants to print detailed miniatures for gaming, create prototype designs, or make custom jewelry pieces, this printer can handle really fine details.
I particularly love some of the practical features they’ve included:
- It can resume printing after a power outage
- The resin tank has two pour spouts for easier filling and emptying
- There’s a drip tray to keep things clean and safe
- The build plate is quick-release for easy print removal
This would make an fantastic gift for:
- Hobbyists who enjoy miniature painting or tabletop gaming
- Artists or designers who want to create prototypes
- Anyone interested in making custom jewelry or accessories
- Tech enthusiasts who love trying new creative technologies
- Makers who are ready to upgrade from a basic 3D printer
Elegoo is well-respected in the 3D printing community, and this printer shows why. While it’s not an entry-level price point, it’s a great choice for someone who is serious about getting into 3D printing or wanting to upgrade from a more basic printer. The auto-leveling feature alone makes it worth considering as an upgrade!

I am interested in 3D printing but the set up and use does seem complicated. Nice that this one is good for beginners.
This sounds like a really good 3D printer! I have been interested in these since they first came out. My kids are super artistic and creative, so I would love to see what they could create with one. I love that this one can resume printing after a power outage, that is really cool!
