Workman publishing sent me products for inclusion in my holiday gift guide. There are affiliate links in this article. All opinions are my own.
When looking over the items I was sent from Workman Publishing for this year’s holiday gift guide, it struck me how I have gift ideas for kids, for older folks. Then I got thinking about how one of the items I was sent was something I got for myself. I’m in my 30’s but sometimes joke about how I have a big granny side to me. Part of my granny side involves enjoying activity books like wordsearches and sudoku.
I’ve always heard the term ‘young at heart’ but I think I am ‘old at heart’ in some ways! And Workman Publishing has gifts for all ages, and for all heart-ages!
Gifts For The Young:
Floof by Heidi McKinnon is a book for kids ages 3-6. Floof is a book about a mischievous and VERY floofy cat, that kids who love cats (or who own a longhaired cat of their own!) will adore.
Dinosaurs To Chickens How Evolution Works by Nick Lund is a book that the publisher recommends for ages 10+, but on Amazon customers say kids as young as 7 have enjoyed it, and adults may too! I have a 9 year old nephew who has been interested in Dinosaurs for years, so the cover caught my eye. He’s also interested in other prehistoric animals that became extinct, and knows information about how certain species have evolved over time. I thought this book focusing on evolution would interest him without being too overwhelming for a kid of his age.
Gifts For The Young At Heart:
Paint By Sticker: Zodiac. If you know someone who enjoyed color-by-number or paint by number pages as a kid, and they’re still young at heart, they’ll love this Paint By Sticker book! It’s really big, each page is more like a small poster than a coloring page. Each page comes with two large sheets of small stickers that are labeled with different letters and numbers, so you work one sticker at a time, slowly filling in a mosaic-like design to eventually finish a full design! I’ve owned a couple of Paint By Sticker books from Workman Publishing in the past and I have really enjoyed all of them.
Gifts For The Old Or Old-At-Heart
440 Games Puzzles & Brain Boosters Specially Designed to Keep Your Mind Sharp can be a great gift for a retiree or older person in your life who enjoys puzzles and wants to keep their mind sharp! Or, it can be great for younger people who just enjoy puzzles! It includes word games, trivia challenges, brainteasers and more. It has a good variety of puzzle styles so there’s likely to be something for everyone in here.
The Biggest, Bestest Book of Sudoku. I first fell in love with Sudoku when I was in middle school! It’s just one of those ways that I am old-at-heart. I am always happy to receive new sudoku books so I think they’d make a great gift. This one has LOTS of puzzles (over 1000!) because it includes 4 puzzles per page, rather than one large puzzle per page. So in a way it’s like getting 4 books in one. IT does mean you have to write smaller but it’s doable!
Audubon Songbirds and other backyard birds 2025 calendar. Wall calendars might be something you associate with older people, but some younger people like having a physical way to keep track of their schedule and appoiments, too! This songbird calendar has a small photo of a bird for every date, all year so it shows a truly beautiful range of birds across the year! Christmas is a great time to gift Calendars seems how it happens just about a week before the new year!
Workman Publishing truly has something for everyone. I’ve always been pleased with the quality of calendars, books and activity sets that I’ve owned from them. Be sure to check them out!
