Thanks to Earth Grown KidDoughs for sending me these adorable kits to review! As always, all opinions are my own.
Christmas is sneaking up so quickly this year! Thanksgiving fell really late into November, so the next thing I knew it was December and the holidays are right around the corner. I’m almost done shopping for everyone on my list, and I think I’ve probably found the cutest non-screen gift idea for kids – Earth Grown KidDoughs! I’m excited to share these innovative sensory kits with you and I’ve got a giveaway, too!
Earth Grown KidDoughs
Earth Grown KidDoughs is a small, family-owned company in the USA. Started because of frustrations with traditional play dough, KidDoughs is a non-toxic, dry-resistant, fabulously fun alternative! First off, I have never seen such cute sensory kits before. Each of the Earth Grown KidDoughs sets have a theme (think Doughnut Shoppe, Ocean Explorer, Fire Station, and more) and comes with dough and a bunch of fun accessories and add-ins! Check out some of our favorite sets.
Earth Grown KidDoughs Doughnut Shoppe
How CUTE is this!? The Doughnut Shoppe comes with a variety of doughnut related goodies including a doughnut mold, tiny cups and donuts, and jars of little sprinkles, glitter, and more! The KidDough itself is velvety soft and pliable. It’s made to last at least 120 hours of play and easily washes out of fabrics (because we all know that kids are going to make a bit of a mess!). Since the dough is made from non-toxic food grade ingredients, you never have to worry about your little ones taking a taste.
I’m not going to lie, I wanted to sit down with my kids and play right alongside them! I let them play with the kits first, but I totally love all of the little containers of add-ins. The pieces are so intricate and perfect! I forgot to mention, the dough is actually naturally scented like a doughnut too – so yummy.
Earth Grown KidDoughs Garbage (Root Beer)
The raccoon in this kit is just to die for – trash pandas are my favorite! The Garbage KidDough has all of these adorable accessories, and then you open up the dough itself and it’s filled with bugs, fish skeletons, and cracked eggs which takes it to a whole other level. My garbage-loving son is obsessed with this set…especially because the dough smells like root beer!
My kids are eleven and (almost) nine, and I was a little nervous that they wouldn’t want to play with KidDoughs-however, I was SO wrong! They are delighted by each kit! I thought I might keep some to give as gifts this holiday season, but it looks like I’ll have to purchase more because they wanted to keep every set. I love having screen-free options for them to play with. We homeschool and do family reading time, but my kids enjoy having something to do with their hands while they listen. Earth Grown KidDoughs is the perfect option!
Earth Grown KidDoughs Cookies
COOKIES! This kit comes with two different scented doughs; one four ounce Sugar Cookie dough and one four ounce Vanilla Buttercream dough, and both smell amazing. The two cookie cutters, clay sprinkles, and cookie charms are adorable – my daughter had so much fun rolling out cookie after cookie. One thing that I really love about KidDoughs is that it doesn’t crumble like traditional dough we’ve owned in the past. It’s very soft and smooth, and doesn’t stick to anything which is a huge perk.
Earth Grown KidDoughs Cocoa Party (Hot Cocoa) Dough-to-Go
This kit is a little bit different from the others, because it’s a Dough-to-Go! That means everything fits into a 16oz container – 8oz of hot cocoa scented dough, plus all of the tiny little accessories you could need for pretend hot cocoa. I really wish I had known about these when our kids were a little younger – when we went to restaurants or had to wait at doctor’s office visits, these would have been the best! (They’re a little older and have a little more patience now, but MAN these are perfect for situations like that.) My kids have trays in the vehicle that they can use for books or other manipulative toys, and we will absolutely be bringing this with us for long drives to keep them busy.
The final adorable set that we got is the Elf Breakfast KidDoughs Play Kit. We LOVE the movie ELF and this spaghetti with all of Buddy’s favorite fixings is beyond cute. I don’t think this set is available from Earth Grown KidDoughs anymore, but if you’re looking for a holiday set the Christmas Train Set is a great alternative!
All of these kids are incredibly fun! I wouldn’t recommend them for kids under three because of all the tiny pieces, but for any other age they’re sure to provide hours of screen-free entertainment. The Dough-to-Go kits would fit into stockings this holiday season, and the bagged kits are great to keep in your art closet.
