Our family has visited a few different national parks and we have lots more on our ‘want to visit’ list, too! So far we’ve traveled to Zion, Bryce Canyon, and The Grand Canyon. My husband and I have also visited Glacier National Park, Theodore Roosevelt National Park, and Yellowstone National Parks and hope to get there soon again with our kiddos. When I heard about Muir Way’s USA National Parks 3D Relief Map, I thought it would be the perfect addition to our homeschool room, and I’m excited to share more about why we love it!
Muir Way USA National Parks 3D Raised Relief Map
As you can see, this is a stunning and large map measuring at 32×24 inches without the frame, or 33×25″ with the walnut frame. This Muir Way map is actually printed, heated, and then vacuum formed over a 3D mold to visually and tactilely show you every park in the National Parks system – it’s a really intricate process with hand-placed labels and a comprehensive key.
The National Parks are clearly marked on the map, along with national forests, national monuments, and other National Park Service sites. The map isn’t covered so you can actually feel all of the raised areas. I homeschool our kids (they’re nine and eleven) and this has been such a great teaching tool as we’ve started to explore all of the National Parks and where they’re located in the USA.
We actually visited Hawaii this spring, and they loved seeing the island we stayed on (Oahu) marked with Pearl Harbor. Unfortunately we didn’t make it over to The Big Island to see thee Hawai’i Volcanoes, but maybe next trip! They also enjoy looking at other places we’ve visited across the US.
