I have dreamed about having a dog for as long as I can remember. And only at the age of 30 did I do it! I added a new family member, a 12-month-old labrador puppy, Lola. She was a cute little bundle of joy and energy, but as time went by, new challenges emerged. I expected her to be overly enthusiastic and a fan of chewing shoes, but little did I know the extent of the problematic behavior I would face. Potty training, obedience commands, walking on a leash…the list can go on and on.
After a few months, I realized I needed help training my dog. The first thing that crossed my mind was working with a dog trainer. But, being a full-time worker, it wasn’t easy to find the opportunity to take Lola for training sessions elsewhere. And, of course, the question of price: professional dog training services are not cheap.
I’ve always been a big fan of various fitness trackers and well-being apps, so I checked the App Store to see what’s available. Here’s how I stumbled upon Woofz. Initially attracted by the simplicity of design and positive reviews, I decided to give it a go.
Woofz Features
First, you start with a quick login process (you can use your Facebook or Google Account, which is even faster) and then go through a brief animated guide to the app’s functions. You can start a 3-day trial to check how the app works or use free features instead (limited, but good enough to give you a general idea of key features).
What I really like about the app is how personalized it feels. You insert your dog’s name, breed, age and training goals to get a custom-tailored training plan. The command and trick library is impressive, with over 75+ training guides to teach your doggo new skills. Video tutorials offer easy, animated clips demonstrating training process steps.
Another helpful feature was a training progress log. It’s pretty motivating to see how many commands you’ve already mastered. Woofz also offers a virtual clicker, so you don’t need to buy a physical one. I found clicker training effective and convenient.
How Expensive Is Woofz?
You can try it for free for three days as part of a trial period. As with many other apps, the longer the subscription you buy, the cheaper it is. So, you can choose from a weekly, monthly, or quarterly plan and pay $6.99, $19.99, or $39.99 accordingly.
Is it expensive? Some users will say yes, but for me, it is cheaper and more time-consuming than taking a dog to offline training groups.
Where Can You Get It?
Depending on your operating system, you can find the app on the Play Market or App Store. It works on phones and tablets and requires an Internet connection to download. Once it’s installed, you can use it offline.
Was It Helpful?
Juggling work and family life is challenging. When you have your hands full, dealing with dog training challenges feels like a burden. But Woofz breaks down the dog training process so that even a newbie can follow the steps.
I successfully trained my dog to sit and go to her place on command, which made my life so much easier and helped me control my dog’s behavior in some situations. I even managed to teach my dog to shake hands. It’s the ultimate party trick that all your guests enjoy.
Overall, it was helpful, though some commands (like” Off!”) required more time and patience. I also thought some of the information is available online for free, but searching for these tips from reliable sources can consume too much of your time and energy. That’s why I felt Woofz was of good value.
Are There Any Drawbacks?
As I’ve mentioned, some commands weren’t easy. “Off!” and “Leave it” were commands for which I needed more support and guidance. It would have been beneficial to talk to an expert and describe my particular issues. The developers can consider implementing a personal online coaching option for premium users.

Is Woofz Worth It?
After using it for four months, the app is a wise investment. It helped me teach my dog basic obedience commands and some playful tricks and made our lives much more manageable. Training your dog is a way to teach them your human language. Ultimately, you not only deal with fewer problematic behaviour cases, but your dog also feels more confident when they know what you expect.
