The South is a fairly unique area when it comes to food over the Easter weekend. If you want to try some of the best food they have to offer, here is a selection of recipes that will give you the best taste of the South over Easter.
Maple-Bourbon Glazed Ham
Starting off with a main course, a maple-bourbon glazed ham is a classic for a reason. It’s tasty, much easier to make than you think, and can feed a big family with some leftovers for sandwiches the next day.
Pop open a few Hard Rated 6% lemon cans and sit back while the ham cooks. The best part is that it only requires about 10 minutes of preparation, meaning it is ideal for those needing an Easter lunch in a hurry.
Classic Roast Leg of Lamb
Another classic that is simple and a crowd-pleaser is a roasted leg of lamb. This simple meal encompasses a delicious cut of meat, herbs, and a bit of lemon juice, and you can throw some roast potatoes in there too.
Again, this is a fairly easy recipe to get right, and it is a set-and-forget-type dish. It also lends itself brilliantly to both hot and cold sides, making it ideal for any type of Easter lunch or dinner.
Egg Salad
One side that you will find across the South when Easter comes around is egg salad. While popular throughout the year, it goes into overdrive over Easter weekend. Plus, Southern egg salad has a few extras that make it almost wholly unique.
Besides eggs and mayonnaise, you add sweet India pickle relish, a dollop of mustard, a dash of sugar and lemon juice, salt, pepper, and a few dabs of hot sauce.
Cheesy Asparagus
One side dish that is super-easy to make and absolutely delicious is cheesy asparagus. You top your asparagus with a cheesy sauce and breadcrumbs stick it in the oven for a few minutes until the breadcrumbs are crunchy, and voila, a delicious side for any main.
You can also combine asparagus with potato in a bake, giving you a fantastic combination of soft, fluffy potatoes, asparagus, and a cheese sauce that brings it all together.
Deviled Eggs
Whether you are at church, at your grandmother’s house, or at an Easter brunch, if you are in the South, you will find deviled eggs. Not only are they quick and easy to make, but they can be topped with a variety of things depending on your tastes.
Mix the boiled yolks with a little bit of mayonnaise and mustard, and then scoop it back into the halved egg. From there, you can top them with paprika, bacon bits, olive slices, chives, pickles, or even caviar.
